Job purpose:

Analytical Development Department (Belgium) – Associate Scientist Immunoassay Platform

 

Within the Analytical Development Department, the Immunoassay Platform is in charge of development, qualification and validation of modern, state-of-the-art immunological assay methods to analyze vaccine products (Proteins, VLP, mRNA,..) at all stages of vaccines development.

The hired Associate Scientist will participate in the development of immunoassays under the direction of scientific experts. The associate Scientist will also participate in routine activities in  both development and GMP lab environment running different immunoassays using various technologies (ELISA, Luminex, Gyros, Octet).

Writing of development reports and technical protocols is also part of the function. 

 

Your responsibilities:

-You work at the bench in the lab (> 70%).

-You participate in the design, execution and data interpretation of specific development projects under the direction of a scientific expert, following the Quality by design framework.

-May train and oversee platform staff on equipment operation, data analysis and other project related work

-You participate to the internal organization of the lab (planning and  lab management ) and facilitates interactions between team members

-You use scientific knowledge and experience to influence technical decisions

-You help to solve complex problems through collaboration with others taking a new perspective on existing solutions

-You act as a resource for colleagues with less experience

-You ay prepare and present scientific data at internal meetings within its own technical R&D area

-You author and review technical protocols and reports in support of various project development stages from phase 1 to phase 3

-You demonstrate agility to work in both development and GMP lab environments

-You use technical process knowledge to meet regulatory requirements in alignment with development stage

-You communicate effectively within TRD functional area and with other TRD functions

as well as with your manager and senior scientific staff in order to ensure progression of project related work

-You encourage adaptation and proactively promote GxP/EHS/QA rules application as they are defined

-You participate and ensure audit readiness, and deviation management

-You develop a strong quality mindset and communicate effectively

-You interact and act in a complex matrix with several stakeholders from different departments (Research, Development, QC, RA, QA) as well as external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

-PhD with limited to no  experience in the industry or a Master degree with 3 years of experience (biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, …)

-Good technical skills

-Proficiency in written and spoken English, fluent in French is a plus.

-Quality and analytical mindset

-Good writing skills

-Good organizational skills and agile principles driven

-Team working skills and good communicator

 

Preferred qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:

- Experience in a lab environment focusing on analytics of biomolecules

- Experience in immunoassay technologies (ELISA, Luminex, Gyros, Octet)

- Experience in Host Cell Proteins is a plus

- Attention for details, eager to learn
