Senior Accountant

Abbott is recruiting an experienced Accountant to join our European Distribution Center in Machelen.

The Accountant â Entity Controller will be responsible for the monthly close process for several EMEA entities.  In addition, the person will be responsible for the monthly inventory reconciliation and capital equipment reconciliation within the Abbott Medical Devices group. 

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

• Work closely together with our Shared Service Organization (SSO) and external accounting firms to drive the month-end closing process
• Own US GAAP and Local GAAP books
• Reconcile and Review total inventory and capital equipment numbers
• Support the roll out of new US GAAP guidance (Lease Standard, Revenue Recognition, â¦)
• Manage and oversees complex journal entries (e.g. acquisitions, tax adjustments, ..) for the Abbott Vascular HQ and other EMEA entities.
• Act as entity controller for dormant entities and work on an action plan to liquidate these entities.
• Manage and oversee the statutory reporting requirements as entity controller (including HCP policies and procedures). Ensure all Statutory Financial Statements are filed within Abbottsâs deadline.
• Review monthly account reconciliations in close in close cooperation with our SSO and external accounting firm.
• Perform periodical Balance Sheet and Finance reviews as entity controller
• Coordinate the internal and external audit process. Ensure smooth internal and external audits with no remarks
• Be the liaison between accounting and âbusiness financeâ

Your Profile:

• Bachelor degree Accounting / Finance
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Experience in a multinational environment of a US-based corporation
• Strong US GAAP and ideally local accounting knowledge and skills
• Experience with close processes for quarterly and year-end
• Experience in consolidation matters would be an advantage
• Knowledge of SAP and Hyperion is a strong asset.
• Fast Learner with high degree of motivation
• Result oriented: meet deadlines and focus on quality.
• Language skills: English (and additional European language is an asset)
