Twenty8 is an independent firm delivering IT services to international organizations, with a focus on supporting digital transformation, business development, and customer-centric solutions.We collaborate closely with European Union public institutions and agencies, helping skilled professionals navigate and grow in their international careers.We are currently seeking a senior Senior PHP / Symfony Developer to design, develop and secure high-scalability backend applications while implementing DevSecOps best practices across the full software lifecycle for a prestigious European Institution in Brussels. 🇪🇺️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead the migration and modernization of PHP/Symfony applications, integrating them with multiple CRMs and ensuring end-to-end development across backend, APIs (including API Platform) and cloud services;Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure with strong focus on reliability, security and performance optimisation;Implement and maintain DevSecOps practices, including platform security hardening, monitoring, compliance frameworks and proactive vulnerability management;Build and maintain database-driven systems and Symfony modules, refactoring legacy code, improving performance and developing new components, services and internal tools;Oversee system integrations, data pipelines and API connectivity (REST/JSON, API Platform), ensuring smooth communication between applications, devices and cloud-based architectures in high-scalability environments;(Optional when needed) Contribute to front-end development using React, ensuring modern, responsive and maintainable UI components. REQUIREMENTS:Strong expertise in PHP and Symfony, with ability to design, develop, integrate and maintain complex, scalable backend applications using Symfony Framework and API Platform;Solid knowledge of Web Security and DevSecOps practices, including secure coding, continuous integration, security monitoring, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, OpenID Connect) and data-protection principles;Proficiency in SQL/MySQL and relational database design;Hands-on experience with front-end basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and familiarity with React is considered a strong asset;Familiarity with DevOps toolchains such as Git, Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, JIRA/Confluence and cloud-based environments;University degree in Computer Science or relevant fields;Eligibility for Personal Security Clearance;Fluency in English (C1);Ability to work in multicultural and international settings.This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site presence at the Brussels office 3 days per week.
