E-Commerce Platform Programme — Belgium

Confidential role brief · Client name disclosed under NDA

In order to make an application, simply read through the following job description and make sure to attach relevant documents.

1. The context

Our client is a European B2B distribution business operating across several markets, backed by an international group. The organisation serves professional resellers and trade customers from an extensive product catalogue, and is undertaking a significant technology investment.

The programme is a full replacement of the company's legacy B2B web platform with a modern enterprise commerce solution, connected through a dedicated integration layer to the core business systems: ERP, product information management, CRM, digital asset management and warehouse management. The new platform will be rolled out market by market across the European footprint.

The programme has recently been baselined. Governance has been structured, the technical direction has been confirmed, the budget is approved, and the client is now assembling a dedicated client-side leadership team to carry the programme through to go-live.

2. The mandate

This is a full accountability role, not a coordination one.

You will be the most senior client-side voice on the programme. You will own the outcome across scope, budget, timeline and quality; you will lead the relationship with the external technology integrator; and you will direct a cross-functional internal delivery team spanning IT, commercial, marketing and ERP.

The client is deliberately building capability on its own side of the table. A central expectation of this role is rigorous, independent oversight of the integrator: challenging estimates, enforcing acceptance standards, and holding the partner to contractual commitments.

3. Key responsibilities

Programme ownership

  • Own the programme plan, benefits realisation plan and risk register end to end
  • Hold accountability for delivery across all workstreams: storefront, integration layer, API/EDI migration, product data, and multi-market rollout
  • Manage and report the programme budget transparently to the Executive Sponsor; identify and mitigate cost and timeline risk proactively

Governance

  • Chair the Steering Committee on behalf of the Executive Sponsor, and run it as a decision-making body rather than a reporting forum
  • Produce stage gate assessments, exception reports and executive-level status reporting on a structured cadence, in line with PRINCE2
  • Drive decision velocity across open analysis tracks: engage business process owners, document decisions, and prevent rework loops

Vendor management

  • Manage the technology integrator relationship at senior level
  • Challenge estimates, timelines and architectural proposals; assess realism across the system landscape
  • Enforce acceptance standards on all sprint outputs

Team leadership

  • Direct the client-side delivery team, including the delivery manager/product owner and business process lead
  • Resolve cross-functional escalations and maintain cohesion across technical and business functions

Rollout

  • Lead go-live planning for each market: readiness criteria, UAT sign-off, cutover and hypercare

4. Candidate requirements

Essential

  • PRINCE2 Practitioner certification: this is a formal client requirement, not a preference
  • Minimum 10 years in programme or project delivery, including at least 3 years at senior level managing an external technology integrator
  • Proven delivery of complex B2B commerce, ERP or middleware platform programmes with multi-country scope and substantial investment
  • Proven experience with Shopify or Magento
  • Technically literate: able to challenge architecture, assess integration complexity, and judge timeline and budget realism across an integrated system landscape
  • Credible at executive committee level, with strong commercial vendor management experience
  • Fluent English

Strongly preferred

  • MSP or an equivalent programme-level qualification
  • Experience taking ownership of a programme at a reset or inflection point — bringing structure and momentum where governance needed strengthening
  • Dutch, French and/or German

Vendor neutrality The client requires a fully independent profile. Candidates will be asked to confirm in writing that they have no current or previous employment, p
