We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to help build production-grade AI capabilities for advanced software products in the life sciences / biopharma domain.This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining LLM-powered agentic systems. You will work on real-world AI solutions that go far beyond prototypes, enabling complex reasoning, knowledge retrieval, and automation for expert users.You will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and domain experts in an agile, international environment.What You Will DoArchitect and implement RAG-based AI agent workflows for complex, multi-step reasoning tasksBuild and optimize LLM-powered agents using modern orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangGraph or similar)Develop context engineering strategies to improve accuracy, relevance, and robustnessIntegrate AI services with existing platforms via well-designed APIsConnect AI systems to databases, vector stores, and cloud infrastructureTest, validate, and monitor AI agents to ensure production reliabilityDocument system architectures, design decisions, and implementation patternsParticipate in code reviews and help define AI engineering best practicesTech StackLLMs: OpenAI, Anthropic ClaudeProgramming Language: PythonFrameworks: FastAPI, Django, LangGraph (or similar)Semantic Search / Vector Stores: Elasticsearch, Pinecone (or equivalent)Cloud Platforms: AWS and/or AzureDatabases: PostgreSQL, ClickHouseWhat We're Looking ForMaster's or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field5+ years of experience in software or AI engineeringHands-on experience building LLM-based agentsProven experience delivering AI systems into production environmentsStrong Python engineering skills with a pragmatic mindsetAbility to translate complex business or domain requirements into effective technical solutionsNice to HaveExperience with ML fundamentals, model evaluation, or MLOpsExposure to life sciences, biotech, or biopharma domainsExperience working with complex, data-intensive systemsWhat We OfferA challenging job environment with advancement opportunitiesPossibility to work from home in an international (global) setting, with a hybrid remote model and the opportunity to connect with colleagues on-site in GhentA dynamic company with an open culture, easy communication, and an ambitious visionA rich and global team with a diverse mix of backgrounds, experiences, and expertiseIndependence and flexibilityAttractive salary packageFurther details regarding engagement and compensation will be discussed during the interview process.Apply with your CV or reach out to yiling.tan@discoverinternational.com for more information.
