Overview Team Lead – E-Bike Mechanics – Upway Mechelen Refurbishment Centre. Department: Operations. Employment Type: Full Time. Location: Mechelen. Compensation: €32,500 - €38,000 / month. Description Upway is a fast growing startup building the largest marketplace for refurbished e-bikes globally. We have refurbished over 20,000 e-bikes in just two years and are growing fast. We are looking for a Bike Mechanic for our Upway Mechelen Refurbishment Centre. The mechanic team repairs a large number of different used e-bikes and refurbishes them to excellent condition, providing Upway’s customers with a vast and high-quality e-bike selection. We are looking for a Team Lead – E-Bike Mechanics to oversee and guide our mechanics team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards in e-bike refurbishment and repair. As the most experienced mechanic on your team, you will be the go-to expert for technical questions, complex repairs, and process improvements. Additionally, you will be responsible for fostering a positive team culture, ensuring workflow efficiency, and maintaining top-tier quality standards. Responsibilities Lead & Mentor : Provide hands-on guidance, training, and support to a team of e-bike mechanics, ensuring continuous skill development and high performance. Technical Expertise : Serve as the highest-skilled mechanic in the team, troubleshooting complex repairs and setting the benchmark for technical excellence. Workflow & Efficiency : Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, optimizing processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to service timelines. Quality Control : Ensure every refurbished e-bike meets Upway’s rigorous quality standards before it reaches customers. Problem Solving & Innovation : Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance performance and customer satisfaction. Collaboration & Communication : Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. Operations Specialists and Customer service) to streamline operations and enhance service delivery. Health & Safety Compliance : Ensure all safety protocols and workshop best practices are adhered to, promoting a safe and organized work environment. Qualifications Extensive hands-on experience in e-bike mechanics (5+ years preferred) Previous team management experience, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing team members. Strong ability to diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of e-bike brands and models. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
