Our telecommunications client based in Brussels is looking for a Site Engineer to join their growing team. This is a contract/freelance position for 12 months initially with long term extensions.

Experience:

  • Strong telecoms site engineering background
  • Experience in performing site surveys, construction management, quality control and site safety.
  • previous experience of conducting site surveys for tower construction and Tenant accommodation.
  • Strong English skills
  • Nice to have, climbing certification GOF3

Day to day responsibilities:

. Project Planning & Design:

  • Site Surveys: Conduct site visits to assess the location, environmental conditions, and topography for tower construction and Tenant accommodation.
  • Stability: Able to read, understand a stability study
  • Design Review: Ensure that the design of the tower (structural, and safety systems) complies with industry standards and regulations.

2. Construction Management:

  • Installation Oversight: Supervise and monitor the construction of the tower, ensuring it is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality checks to ensure that materials used in construction meet the required specifications and safety standards.
  • Site Safety: Implement and enforce strict safety protocols on-site, ensuring workers adhere to occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other teams involved in the tower construction or maintenance project.

3. Technical Supervision:

  • Foundation Work: Oversee the foundation work, ensuring that the soil and concrete work meets the structural requirements.
  • Structural Assembly: Supervise the erection of the tower and its components (such as steel, antennas, and supporting structures).
  • Electrical Systems: Oversee the installation and testing of electrical systems, including power supplies, grounding, and lightning protection.
  • Equipment Installation: Ensure the proper installation of telecommunications equipment (such as antennas, transmitters, and cables).

4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Routine Inspections: Perform or arrange for regular inspections of towers to ensure they remain structurally sound and operational.
  • Fault Detection: Troubleshoot any technical or structural issues and implement solutions to keep towers functioning optimally.
  • Upgrades and Refurbishments: Manage or oversee upgrades to existing towers (such as the installation of new antennas or capacity upgrades) to meet changing technology needs.

5. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Daily Logs: Maintain daily logs of construction progress, issues encountered, and resolutions applied.
  • Progress Reports: Provide regular updates to senior management or clients on project status, including milestones achieved, delays, and budget status.
  • As-Built Documentation: Ensure accurate records of the completed work are maintained, including drawings, specifications, and certifications.

6. Communication & Coordination:

  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a point of contact for all parties involved in the project, including clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and vendors.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for the timely delivery of materials and equipment needed for the project.

7. Compliance & Safety:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all activities comply with local and international standards, including safety, environmental, and telecommunications regulations.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions to address any identified risks or safety hazards on-site.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering principles related to construction, , telecommunications, collocations.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly address technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local building codes, environmental regulations, and telecommunications standards.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with teams, clients, and vendors.
