Dark Light is currently looking for a Data Engineer specialized in data migrations for one of its clients. In this role, the Data Engineer will ensure that customers can transition smoothly from legacy systems to a modern data platform. The ideal candidate: Has proven experience with data migrations (hands-on migration experience is a strong plus) and can take ownership quickly. Is comfortable working with undocumented systems, reverse-engineering data models, and solving problems through structured experimentation. Approaches complex data challenges with a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset. Has strong experience with dbt, SQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and Python. Has experience with Terraform and Azure (nice to have). What the role involves The Data Engineer will help build and further mature the migration strategy from the ground up, anticipating data coming from multiple external systems. The client already has initial migration scripts in place and the role will work closely with internal stakeholders to expand and optimize these processes. Key responsibilities include: Data Migrations: Design, manage, and optimize complex data migration projects. Pipeline Development: Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes using dbt and Snowflake, ensuring reliable and performant transformations. End-to-End Ownership: Own the full migration lifecycle, including validation and deployment of data into production environments, while collaborating closely with customer-facing stakeholders to ensure a smooth migration experience. Documentation & Process Building: Define efficient data handling processes and create clear documentation for end-to-end pipeline management.
