Data & Analytics Architect

We’re building a team and looking for pioneers to join our mission to make the Kempen region, Flanders, Belgium and Europe data-driven. The role is leading a delivery team in consultancy projects with a mix of high level technological and business consultancy for a variety of clients to drive change and improvement by using data. In this role you will lead a delivery team of 4-6 people in consultancy projects at our clients and internal product building. Your goal is to translate client needs into a technical architecture that can be implemented by your team members. A successful candidate has exceptional knowledge of linux and data fundamentals. If this is you, do not hesitate to apply. Responsibilities You are responsible for designing, planning and delivering several consultancy projects from a technical point of view in parallel. You listen and identify the client needs, and translate these to specific execution packages for our team members. You present and let your team members present high level content to high level stakeholders, including C-level. You architect the desired system and/or are technical lead for the execution. Data integration: integrate a variety of datasources with for example apache camel, apache pulsar or kafka, dlt, python, windmill. Analytics Engineering: model datawarehouses both batch and real-time with for example clickhouse and dbt or sqlmesh. Business intelligence: build visuals that answer critical business questions in for example superset, metabase, databricks or powerbi. ML / AI: use modern tools to predict or use llm’s to facilitate the insights hidden in unstructured data. You are not responsible for single handedly building the system, rather delegate subtasks to the team members and contribute where needed. Some technical work, e.g. modelling a complex integration or dimensional model will be needed. Your team is very capable and will look at you to help them overcome the crux of the technical challenges they face. You report to the founder of understanding data in weekly sessions with team. After the first 6 months, you have the option to become a competence lead in one of the subfields: consultancy, platform, integration, analytics, business intelligence, ML, people, or domain‑specific knowledge for one of our verticals. Learning opportunities Lead, learn, design and build data systems, for example using hypervisors, linux, distributed systems, data integration, analytics engineering and business intelligence in batch and real-time on k8s. Translate business logic to available data, for example creating insights for a wholesale client with data warehousing using an azure, aws, gcp or on‑premise architecture including apache kafka / pulsar, sqlmesh / dbt, clickhouse / databend and metabase / superset. Build state‑of‑the‑art systems that solve client‑specific challenges, for example building agentic LLM’s with RAG (retrieval‑augmented generation) using ollama, local‑ai and openwebui. You learn about several sectors at the same time, building domain knowledge as you go. There are many learning opportunities. We are experts, we expect you to be or become an expert. Qualifications 3-5 years experience. Master level education in a quantitative field, e.g. engineering, or equivalent in experience. C2 Dutch or willing to build a path towards C2 in the coming 6 months and at least B2 now. Experience with data‑related programming languages and patterns, such as SQL and python and building analytics infrastructure. Experience with complex data systems. Desire to learn and become expert.
