About the role
As a product manager at Rubio Monocoat, you will be responsible for the strategic development, positioning, and growth of our product portfolio. You combine in-depth market knowledge with a hands-on approach, ensuring our products perfectly meet the needs of both B2B and B2C customers.
You are a strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset and analytical skills. You take initiative, drive product development and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimize the product range and successfully bring it to market.
Responsibilities
- Strategic product development – define the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring continuous growth and optimization of the portfolio
- Market research – develop professional research briefings, collaborate with research agencies, interpret findings and translate insights into strategic product decisions
- Competitive analysis – actively gather competitor and market insights through customer visits, sales input, and trend analysis
- Go-to-market strategy & execution – develop and implement a clear GTM strategy, coordinating product launches with marketing and sales
- Stakeholder management – act as the key liaison between R&D, production, marketing and sales to drive product development and improvements
- Product lifecycle management – manage the full product portfolio, optimize existing products, and make decisions on phase-out and innovation
- Commercial product strategy – determine the right positioning, pricing strategy, and differentiation to achieve a competitive advantage
- International customer engagement & market validation – regularly visit customers, attend trade fairs and participate in networking events to gather direct market insights
- Project management & process optimization – lead product development projects and ensure efficient collaboration across teams
- Innovation – anticipate future market trends and translate them into new products and services
Key tasks & activities
- Develop market research briefings and challenge research agencies
- Interpret research findings and translate them into concrete product actions
- Actively engage with customers, distributors, and sales teams to gather market insights
- Attend trade fairs and industry events to spot trends and expand the network
- Define the product roadmap and prioritize development initiatives
- Determine product specifications, packaging requirements, pricing, and annual volumes
- Coordinate product development and launches with R&D, marketing, and sales
- Manage product data in MRP and PIM systems to ensure accurate information
- Work closely with marketing to create product packaging, social media content, commercial texts, and technical datasheets
- Evaluate the impact of launched products and implement improvements
- Lead internal project meetings and report key findings and recommendations to management
- Manage and optimize internal processes related to product development and lifecycle management
Your profile
- Minimum 7 years of experience in product management, preferably in the woodworking & coatings sector or a technical/industrial sector
- Strong strategic and analytical skills with a proven track record in developing successful product strategies
- Experience in market research – ability to challenge research agencies, interpret data, and translate findings into action
- Excellent commercial acumen – strong understanding of market needs and product positioning
- International experience and network – comfortable working in a B2B and B2C environment across multiple markets
- Strong leadership skills – experienced in managing multidisciplinary teams and projects
- Hands-on mentality – strategic yet action-oriented, ensuring effective execution
- Affinity with woodworking and coatings is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English – additional languages are an asset
