ABOUT US Italbiotec Srl – Benefit Corporation – was founded in 2021 with the mission to develop high‐impact innovative solutions for health, society, and the environment, leveraging multidisciplinary expertise and high‐potential ideas. We provide high‐value services in innovation and sustainability, including access to European funding, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), market analysis, sustainability reporting, intellectual property evaluation, and techno‐economic analysis (TEA) for preliminary industrial investment assessments. We also organize scientific networking events and support companies in developing operational and marketing plans that drive sustainable growth and value creation. THE ROLE For our Ghent (Belgium) office, a strategic hub for international growth, we are seeking an International Business Developer to expand Italbiotec's presence in European and international markets, with a particular focus on the biotech and bioeconomy sectors. Belgium – and specifically the Flanders region – will be the initial priority market, leveraging its advanced network of biotech clusters and institutions as a launchpad for broader European development. The selected candidate will work closely with the CEO and CIO and will be responsible for driving business development, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring market engagement. An initial onboarding and training period in Italy will ensure full understanding of Italbiotec's mission, services, and operating model. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement a market penetration strategy for European and international markets, starting from Belgium as a strategic hub. Build and maintain partnerships with local stakeholders, companies, biotech clusters (e.g., VIB, BioWin, flanders.bio), and Flemish academic and industrial institutions. Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities, managing the full business development cycle from prospecting to deal closure. Maintain and update the prospect and client database, tracking opportunity progress. Prepare and present competitive, tailored value propositions (PDVs) Maintain long‐term client relationships, ensuring effective communication during service delivery and gathering feedback. Produce commercial reports and maintain client relationship storyboards. REQUIREMENTS Must Have Degree in a technical-scientific discipline (Biotechnology, Biology, Engineering, or equivalent) or in economics/management with a strong interest in the biotech sector. At least three years of experience in international business development within the Biotech, Pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated sectors involving complex validation and go-to-market processes. Fluency in Flemish and English (C1 level). Willingness to travel for short business trips within Europe. Excellent command of Microsoft Office and Outlook. Nice to Have MBA or advanced training in economics or business. Knowledge of Italian. Familiarity with biotechnological processes, biomanufacturing, and biomedical applications. Understanding of major regulatory frameworks and funding channels. KEY SKILLS Strong autonomy and accountability. Excellent negotiation and complex stakeholder management skills. Part-time contract (minimum 50%) or full-time, depending on candidate availability. Initial gross annual salary between €45,000 and €55,000, depending on experience. Company and individual benefits equal to at least 7% of annual gross salary. Performance-related bonuses for individual and team commercial achievements. Additional tax-efficient benefits in line with Belgian regulations.
