Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised European Clinical Training & Demo Manager to lead and coordinate customer training and customer demonstrations at the ORSI Academy, in Belgium.


The Clinical Surgical Robotics Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based education and hands-on training in robotic-assisted surgery at ORSI Academy. The role supports surgeons, fellows, operating room professionals and healthcare teams in developing the technical, clinical and procedural competencies required to safely and effectively adopt robotic surgical technologies.


Based within a leading European surgical training and innovation centre, the trainer works across simulation, dry-lab, wet-lab and procedural training environments. The position combines clinical education, surgical robotics expertise, simulation-based training, competency assessment and operating-room workflow optimisation.


The trainer acts as a clinical and educational ambassador for robotic-assisted surgery and works closely with surgical faculty, industry partners, healthcare institutions and ORSI Academy staff to design and deliver training programmes aligned with current clinical practice and validated educational methodologies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Robotic Surgery Training

  • Deliver structured, hands-on training programmes for surgeons and surgical teams using robotic-assisted surgical platforms.
  • Provide training across robotic platforms, including system operation, instrumentation, docking, patient-side workflows and console skills.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced robotic surgical skills, including camera control, instrument manipulation, energy application, dissection, needle handling, suturing and intracorporeal knot tying.
  • Support procedural and procedure-specific robotic training across relevant surgical specialties.
  • Provide clear demonstrations, coaching and real-time feedback throughout practical training sessions.
  • Adapt training delivery to participants with different levels of robotic experience, from introductory users to experienced robotic surgeons.

2. Surgeon and OR-Team Education

  • Train multidisciplinary operating-room teams, including surgeons, first assistants, scrub nurses and operating-room personnel.
  • Teach safe and efficient robotic OR workflows, including room setup, patient positioning, robotic system preparation, docking and undocking.
  • Train teams in troubleshooting, emergency undocking and appropriate responses to technical or procedural challenges.
  • Reinforce principles of patient safety, surgical efficiency and effective team communication.
  • Support the development of standardised robotic workflows that can be transferred from the training environment to clinical practice.

3. Simulation and Skills Assessment

  • Deliver simulation-based training using dry-lab, virtual-reality and other robotic training modalities.
  • Apply competency-based and proficiency-based training principles to robotic surgery education.
  • Assess trainee performance using objective skills metrics and structured assessment tools.
  • Provide constructive, individualised feedback and coaching to improve technical performance.
  • Document trainee progression and competency throughout training programmes.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of new robotic skills assessments and educational methodologies.

4. Wet-Lab and Cadaveric Training

  • Prepare and deliver wet-lab and cadaveric robotic surgery training sessions in collaboration with surgical faculty.
  • Support faculty and participants with robotic system preparation, instrumentation and laboratory setup.
  • Ensure appropriate technical and procedural support throughout hands-on sessions.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, surgical technique, equipment integrity and appropriate laboratory procedures.
  • Assist in developing realistic procedural scenarios that replicate clinical surgical workflows.

5. Clinical Faculty Support

  • Work closely with internationally recognised surgeons and faculty during educational programmes.
  • Assist faculty in preparing robotic surgical demonstrations, practical exercises and procedural curricula.
  • Provide technical and educational support during live demonstrations and hands-on courses.
  • Help translate faculty expertise and surgical techniques into structured learning activities.
