ELECTRO MECHANICAL ENGINEER - GHENT (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONThe Electromechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting complex systems that combine mechanical, electrical, and electronic components. This role spans the entire product lifecycle, from concept, design, and prototyping to production support, testing, and continuous improvement. The engineer ensures that electromechanical systems are reliable, efficient, safe, and cost-effective while meeting technical requirements and regulatory standards. Working cross-functionally with R&D, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, the Electromechanical Engineer translates product requirements into practical designs, validates system performance through testing, and supports production and field operations.
This role requires hands-on problem-solving, technical analysis, and proactive identification of design improvements to enhance system functionality, manufacturability, and long-term reliability. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to deliver innovative solutions that align with business objectives, meet customer expectations, and comply with industry regulations. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electromechanical systems, assemblies, and components that meet functional and performance requirementsCreate, review, and maintain mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materialsSelect appropriate motors, actuators, sensors, controllers, power supplies, and other componentsPerform calculations, simulations, and tolerance analyses to ensure optimal performance and reliabilityIntegrate mechanical, electrical, and control elements into complete operational systemsDevelop and execute testing plans for prototypes, pilot runs, and production unitsAnalyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to meet design objectivesSupport system validation, reliability testing, and compliance with applicable standardsFacilitate the transition of designs from concept to production, ensuring manufacturability and scalabilityCollaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams on component selection, sourcing, and cost optimizationProvide technical support for production issues, nonconformances, and design improvementsAssist in the development of assembly processes, tooling, and fixturesMaintain accurate technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and change recordsEnsure designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards (e.g., UL, CE, ISO, EMC)Support engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) and configuration management activitiesQualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electromechanical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldProven experience in electromechanical system design, product development, or industrial applicationsStrong knowledge of mechanical design, electrical systems, and basic controlsProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and electrical design toolsHands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshootingFamiliarity with manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA), and cost optimizationStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teamsThe Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
