Department: The EMEA Electrics and Control Department, located in Ghent -Technology Park, is one of the fastest growing departments and is part of the EMEA Development Center.

The Department is responsible for:

  1. Development of controls, embedded software & hardware
  2. Cloud and App development

Throughout the development steps we combine "in house" development and strategic cooperation with external partners to enhance our products, keeping them amongst the best in the industry. All Daikin departments have a close collaboration to ensure high quality products for the Daikin EMEA market. Our developments start from the early research and innovation, over design, implementation, testing, till a product that is ready for sales.

To ensure the adoption of advanced technologies in our developments, we are looking for a software developer who can support our IoT platform used for testing and troubleshooting our units during the development phase.

You will join our team as a Full Stack Developer. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and daily management of our IoT platform, as well as designing and implementing front-end and back-end components of our applications in cooperation with our architects.

Our Linux-based IoT platform consists of Raspberry-Pi devices remotely logging data to a cloud database. You will be in charge of delivering scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions as well as troubleshooting and debugging existing software. The goal of your effort is to ensure a continuous operation of the IoT devices and the cloud platform by assisting the request of the different stakeholders. You will work in a team under the supervision of a project coordinator who will set up priorities and balance the workload among the different team members.

  1. As a software developer, you are part of a team responsible for the good operation of an IoT platform used in the advanced development and innovation phase of different Daikin product ranges.
  2. You develop and take ownership of several software services in the domain of Linux administration services, cloud platform, and Raspberry Pi devices.
  3. You propose innovative solutions, as well as address possible issues and troubleshooting.
  4. You act as a liaison between the project coordinator and the end-users of the platform.
  5. You are part of the team that develops software solutions for short-term support countermeasures as well as long-term platform improvements.
  6. You identify new opportunities by following technological trends and materialize them in the form of new services and features.
  7. You execute the different assignments diligently ensuring deadlines and quality.
  8. You maintain contacts with the internal and external stakeholders in the context of product development projects.
  9. You periodically report about your progress and achievements, and clearly communicate technical approaches.
  10. You enjoy working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team of knowledgeable colleagues striving for creating impact with new technologies.
Profile
  1. You obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.
  2. You have solid experience with AWS cloud computing platform and deploying and managing applications in cloud environments.
  3. You have experience in CI/CD.
  4. You are proficient with the following programming languages: TypeScript, Python, JavaScript.
  5. You are proficient with front-end development languages such as HTML, CSS, React.js.
  6. You are familiar with subjects like Linux/bash, Docker, Kubernetes, IoT fleet management (e.g., Balena), database systems (e.g. MongoDB), Time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB).
  7. You are a strong team player and good communicator.
  8. You thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to change.
  9. You are down to earth with a solution-driven mindset capable of providing innovative solutions with realistic targets.
