Budget 620€- 640€ Location Mechelen or Leuven (Belgium) Employment Type Full-time – Long-term assignment Working Language English (Dutch is a plus) On-Call Rotation Required Position Overview As a Senior System Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the architecture, optimization, and reliability of a large-scale on-premises Elastic environment. With over 5 years of experience in IT systems and infrastructure engineering, you’ll be involved at every step of the technical lifecycle — from translating business requirements into system designs to validation, deployment, and support. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and translate business and technical requirements into robust system designs. Analyze trade-offs and benefits for different design options. Validate compliance of solutions and support deployments to ensure requirement fulfillment. Support system lifecycle through performance tuning, capacity planning, and security best practices. Drive automation and innovation to improve existing systems, processes, and services. Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and standards. Perform complex incident resolution and conduct root cause analysis. Participate in on-call rotations to support critical infrastructure. Technical Skills Required Linux server administration Elastic Stack / Elasticsearch / Elastic APM Ansible (automation mindset required) Familiarity with monitoring & alerting tools for on-call processes (a plus) Experience with performance tuning and capacity managementAbility to script and automate operational tasks (DevOps-oriented) Soft Skills Strong documentation and structured communication Analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset Collaborative team player, adaptable in fast-paced environments Result-driven, proactive, and quality-focused Comfortable in high-availability, mission-critical contexts Ideal Profile 5+ years of experience in system engineering or infrastructure design Hands-on experience managing large-scale Elastic environments Strong background in automation and system optimization Comfortable with on-call support and high-pressure situations Fluent in English (spoken and written); Dutch is a strong plus Why Join Work on high-performance infrastructure with large-scale data systems Be part of a skilled and collaborative engineering team Contribute to critical infrastructure projects with real impact On-site presence required in Mechelen or Leuven, with possible flexibility over time #J-18808-Ljbffr
