Backend Developer .NET / Azure Location: Berchem (Antwerp) – Hybrid (min. 2 days/week onsite)Contract type: Freelance / ContractorIndustry: Insurance / Financial ServicesStart date: 01/01/2026About the roleFor a leading player in the insurance industry, we are looking for a Backend Developer with strong experience in .NET and Azure to reinforce the team working on broker portal applications.You will work in an agile environment, building and improving backend services that are critical for brokers and end customers. The focus is on serverless architectures, integrations, security, and performance.Your responsibilitiesDevelop and maintain serverless applications using Azure Functions and Azure Container AppsImplement and optimize CI/CD pipelines across multiple environmentsManage secrets and sensitive data via Azure Key VaultOptimize data storage and retrieval using Cosmos DB and Redis CacheIntegrate with external systems via SOAP services and secure them using OAuthBuild and maintain SOAP and REST services in a .NET environmentApply test-driven development and write solid unit tests (mocking, quality focus)Contribute to technical analysis based on functional requirementsDocument the software you build and provide 3rd line support when neededCollaborate closely with analysts, designers, and other developers in an agile teamUse Azure DevOps for task management and source controlExperience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) is a plus.Your profileMedior+ backend engineer with approximately 5–7 years of experience in services design and IT integrationStrong experience with:C# / .NETAzure (Functions, Container Apps, Key Vault, Cosmos DB, Redis, Blob/Table Storage)SOAP / REST services and related standards (XML, XSD, WSDL, JSON, REST)Solid understanding of concepts like SOA, web services, unit testing, inheritance, stored proceduresExperience with:Analysis, design, coding and implementation of object-oriented applicationsHosting web services and web applications in AzureAzure DevOps for work management and Git-based source controlAzure certification (e.g. AZ-204 – Azure Developer) is a strong assetSoft skills:Plan-based, independent and result-orientedStrong analytical and problem-solving mindsetCommunicative team player with a hands-on mentalityQuality-driven and proactive in improving development processesCustomer and broker-focused attitudeLanguagesDutch: Very good (spoken and written)English: Very good (spoken and written)
