Context of the assignmentWe are looking for a freelance Senior Buyer for Securex to replace a colleague during her maternity leave.The planned start date is between mid-January 2026 and early February 2026 and runs until mid-August 2026 and is situated within a purchasing department in the midst of further professionalization.The focus is on structuring, supporting, and optimizing daily procurement activities across various categories and suppliers. You'll combine a hands-on approach with creating overview, structure, and process consistency.Purpose of the assignmentEnsuring continuity within procurement during the absenceBringing structure and clarity to purchasing processes and documentationSupporting compliance initiatives (including NIS2)Support in creating reporting and procurement KPIsYour responsibilitiesOperational & tactical purchasing managementSupervising and executing purchasing files for various categories and suppliersSupporting internal teams with:supplier selectionprice and contract negotiationscontract management and extensionsExecuting RFPs, RFQs and RFIs where relevantActively monitor supplier relationships and performanceProcesses & structureSetting up practical procedures, templates and checklistsSupporting governance and compliance initiatives, including preparation for NIS2Ensuring knowledge retention and transferabilityStakeholdermanagementAct as a point of contact for internal customersTranslating internal needs into market-oriented solutionsProfessional and constructive communication with suppliersReporting & KPI'sSupport in setting up procurement reportingSupport in defining procurement KPIs (e.g. spend, supplier performance, contract status)Wanted profileExtensive experience as a Senior Buyer or interim procurement consultantDemonstrable experience in operational and tactical purchasingStrong in:to provide structuresetting up processes and documentationworking pragmatically in an existing organizationAffinity with compliance environments (experience with NIS2, ISO, audits or governance is a plus)Experience with reporting and KPI setup within procurementIndependent, proactive and quickly deployableStrong in stakeholder and supplier managementFluent in Dutch, French and EnglishPractical informationType: Freelance / interim assignmentPeriod: mid-January 2026/early February 2026 - mid-August 2026Availability: Full time Working method: hybrid - 3 days/week in the office in Ghent
