Legal Counsel IT, Privacy & Commercial Contracts Join Degroof Petercam as a Legal Counsel within the Legal Department, providing expert legal support and advice to business and operational teams on a broad range of IT, privacy, and commercial matters. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring compliance with applicable regulations while enabling our business objectives. Responsibilities Draft, review, negotiate ICT contracts, outsourcing arrangements, partnership agreements, data licensing arrangements, cybersecurity frameworks, and general commercial contracts. Provide legal advice on Intellectual Property Rights, Artificial Intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, and commercial law matters, ensuring compliance with EU regulations such as GDPR, AI Act, DORA, and NIS2. Offer guidance throughout the lifecycle of projects, from inception to implementation. Collaborate closely with IT, Procurement, Operational Risk, Marketing, and Compliance teams at group and local levels. Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal policies, templates, guidelines, and playbooks to harmonise processes across the Group. Support internal governance processes and the legal risk‑management framework. Organise and deliver internal training sessions and awareness programmes on legal and regulatory developments in your domain. Ensure that legal risks and opportunities are identified, assessed, and managed in a business‑oriented manner, in line with local laws, regulations, and professional standards. Stay informed about the latest legal trends and developments in technology, data, cybersecurity, and commercial law. Assist colleagues on broader legal matters outside your core expertise when required. Qualifications Belgian Master of Law degree. 3‑5 years of experience as a lawyer in IT, Outsourcing, Data Protection, IP law, and commercial contract law, ideally within a Financial Institution. Fluency in French and Dutch (written and spoken) as well as English. Strong analytical skills and interest in the business aspects of legal issues. Proven experience in drafting and negotiating ICT agreements, data licensing arrangements, and general commercial contracts. Ability to translate complex legal principles into pragmatic advice balancing legal constraints and business needs. Team player with strong relationship‑building skills and eagerness to learn. Ability to work autonomously with excellent organisational skills and a structured, process‑oriented approach. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
