A leading European engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support the delivery of complex projects across sectors, including data centres, advanced technology, and life sciences. The role is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities for assigned projects, optimising cost, quality, delivery, and risk while driving value through strategic sourcing, innovation, and supplier management. The position may also involve mentoring junior procurement personnel and supporting projects across multiple European locations. Key Responsibilities Manage the full procurement-to-pay process from sourcing through to invoice clearance. Lead complex tender and bid processes for equipment, materials, and services, including commercial evaluations. Develop procurement execution plans and procurement schedules in coordination with project and planning teams. Secure timely and quality delivery of materials and services required for assigned projects. Negotiate supplier agreements, including alliances, rebate structures, and master service agreements. Identify new suppliers and recommend sourcing strategies to deliver value and mitigate risk. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including project and engineering teams. Coordinate logistics for goods and services, including reallocation or disposal of excess materials where required. Ensure compliance with internal approval authorities, procurement controls, and governance processes. Produce internal and external reports as required and support audits or stakeholder reviews. Support proposal and tender activities when required. Mentor and potentially lead junior procurement personnel. Work collaboratively with procurement colleagues and line management to improve processes and eliminate waste. Requirements Proven experience in a senior buying or procurement role within an engineering or construction environment. Strong background in M&E procurement, ideally within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector. Minimum of six years' experience in a similar role. Third-level qualification in supply chain, engineering, or a related discipline. Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills. Experience working with ERP systems and structured procurement processes. Ability to prioritise workload effectively and perform under pressure in a project-driven environment. Willingness to be based initially in Belgium, with flexibility to work across other European locations as required. Professional, adaptable, and resilient, with the ability to manage changing priorities and environments.
