HSE Engineer

Vulcain Engineering Belgium is looking for a part-time freelance HSE Engineer to join its team and support different projects in the Ghent area. As HSE engineer, you will ensure the safety of industrial operations and construction activities within an industrial environment, guaranteeing compliance with Belgian and EU regulations and preventing risks related to works, equipment, and interventions. ABOUT THE POSITION: Develop and implement prevention plans for construction sites and interventions (new works, maintenance). Conduct risk assessments for site activities (working at height, confined spaces, ATEX, simultaneous operations). Ensure compliance with the Belgian Code on Well-being at Work and relevant Royal Decrees (temporary works, pressure equipment, ATEX). Manage work permits (hot work, confined spaces, electrical). Train and raise awareness among internal teams and contractors on site safety. Monitor compliance with HSE rules on-site and intervene in case of non-conformity. Participate in safety audits and regulatory inspections. Report incidents and propose corrective actions. ABOUT YOU: 3–5 years experience as HSE engineer for industrial construction projects (ideally within the pharma or process industries)). Strong knowledge of Belgian regulations (Well-being Code, Royal Decrees on temporary works). Familiarity with work permits and specific risks (ATEX, confined spaces).
