Position: Instrumentation Lead Engineer
The Project
For a major greenfield industrial project in Antwerp, Belgium, we are looking for an experienced Instrumentation Lead Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up phase of the plant.
As Instrumentation Lead Engineer, you will lead the instrumentation commissioning activities and provide technical coordination during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate instrumentation commissioning activities.
- Provide technical guidance to instrumentation engineers, supervisors and commissioning teams.
- Review instrumentation systems and equipment for commissioning readiness.
- Prepare and review commissioning procedures, test documentation and work packs.
- Coordinate instrument inspections, testing and functional checks.
- Support and coordinate loop checks, calibration, functional testing and instrument verification.
- Support testing of control loops, alarms, trips and interlocks.
- Coordinate troubleshooting of instrumentation issues during commissioning and start-up.
- Review and follow up on punch-list items and outstanding activities.
- Coordinate closely with automation, electrical, process, mechanical and other commissioning disciplines.
- Support system handover from construction to commissioning and from commissioning to operations.
- Monitor commissioning progress and provide technical input to the commissioning management team.
- Provide technical support during plant start-up and stabilization.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with project procedures, specifications and HSE requirements.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in instrumentation engineering, commissioning and start-up.
- Strong experience within petrochemical, chemical, refinery, LNG or other process industry projects.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience with field instruments, control valves, transmitters, switches, analyzers and instrumentation loops.
- Proven experience in a lead engineering or commissioning role.
- Experience with loop checking, calibration and functional testing.
- Good understanding of commissioning, system handover and start-up processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Practical and field-oriented approach.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Good command of English.
