Within the Global Parts Supply (GPS) team, working with suppliers is key. As GPS, we are responsible for all supplier communications and hence the vital link between the supplier and the customer. Our mission is to ensure a healthy supply chain in the Caterpillar aftermarket and avoid shortages in the network leading into customer back orders. To be successful, we have challenging goals to measure our supplier's on-time ship performance. On a daily basis, we liaise with suppliers and drive accountability for their results, the goals are challenging yet achievable and key to guarantee superior service levels.

As a Logistics Planning Analyst, you are responsible for establishing solid business relationships with a set of defined suppliers.

  1. Your main focus is ensuring timely and qualitative delivery into our distribution center, ensuring parts availability towards the end customer based on system-generated requirements.
  2. You will be educating and holding suppliers responsible to reach challenging business results.
  3. You understand the power of teamwork and will reach out to necessary process partners such as transportation, procurement, engineering, and join forces where needed.
  4. To be successful, you will need to develop and master a thorough understanding of our supply chain processes and systems.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Monitor schedules and ensure their punctual and efficient shipment with suppliers.
  2. Monitor supplier results and drive corrective action as needed to maintain high supplier performance.
  3. Maintain effective communication and relationships with internal divisions and external suppliers.
  4. Evaluate and challenge supplier results in accordance with the supplier performance standard.
  5. Analyze and correct data irregularities.
  6. Provide thorough support on high priority back orders.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum bachelor's degree.
  2. Strong attention to detail.
  3. Motivated to work in a target-focused area.
  4. Analytical mindset.
  5. Effective communication skills.
  6. Strong written and oral skills in English are a must; French, German, Dutch are an asset.
  7. Allowing clear communication between peers and external parties.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills.
  9. Self-motivated and committed.

Data Analytics:

  1. Collects required data through various data sources and documents them for evaluating trends and activities.
  2. Assists in preparing charts, graphs, tables, and other tools to represent the results obtained from data analysis.
  3. Researches business-related data, analyzes, interprets, and presents findings to management.
  4. Recognizes and assesses problems, opportunities, and methods for improving existing business performance.

Planning:

  1. Anticipates and adapts to plan changes.
  2. Monitors progress of work against plan as required to meet objectives.
  3. Reports variances and makes agreed-upon corrections.
  4. Under guidance, develops tactical plan for own direct responsibility.

Problem Solving:

  1. Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.
  2. Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.
  3. Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.
  4. Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
  5. Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

Distribution Requirements Planning:

  1. Works with real-time inventory software, moving supplies to where needed, when needed.
  2. Interprets the impact of bottlenecks and delays on operating costs.
  3. Follows processes and applies technologies for items and inventory management.
  4. Assists in solving issues related to distribution to meet orders or inventory replenishment requirements.
  5. Works with basic distribution requirements planning (DRP) processes and operations.

Inventory Management:

  1. Follows processes to take stock, release inventory or return into processing; resolves discrepancies.
  2. Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location.
  3. Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location.
  4. Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances.
  5. Performs the receiving, ticketing, checking in and distributing of inventory items for a specific location.
