What are your responsibilities?
As an Associate Scientist, you will work in a team environment, collaborating with various process/analytical scientists. You will aid in process development and optimization, process troubleshooting, investigations, characterization. You will evaluate cellular responses to process operations, assess their effects on product quality, and determine the process scalability.
- You will be expected to perform upstream process development experiments with minimum supervision.
- You will be responsible for planning your own work with the team members involved in the experiment, pro-actively collecting feedback on your proposed plan with the project leader and team members and executing such plan.
- You will apply Quality by Design (QbD) principles, utilizing Design of Experiment (DoE) methodology to design, plan and execute experiments.
- Key activities will include process optimization and characterization, scale-up, participation to technology/process transfer to clinical and commercial manufacturing, commercial manufacturing support/improvement, process troubleshooting, data analysis/modelling and equipment characterization.
- You will generate documentation for experimental reports to support technology transfer and regulatory filings (Development and Technical Reports in English).
- You will spend up to 80% of your time in the laboratory performing experimentation on cell culture and media formulations with bioreactors from mini - (15mL) to small – scale (10L), either disposable or stainless steel, as well as shake flask cultures.
- You will provide feedback and discuss with in-process analytics colleagues regarding analytical methods.
- You will use automation and high throughput technologies for sample preparation and/or analysis. xlxgzvr
- You may occasionally perform laboratory work during the week-end if required.
Your profile:
- You have a master's degree in biology, bioengineering or biochemistry
- You have technical expertise in mammalian-cell-based therapeutic protein expression and culture systems
- You will utilize knowledge in bioengineering, chemical engineering, statistics, molecular biology, analytical methods and cellular metabolism
- An ability to multi-task, to organize and communicate large amounts of data is required
- Good command of spoken and written scientific English is mandatory
