Senior Test Automation Engineer Evere, Belgium | Full-time, Long-term Assignment | Partially Remote English + French or Dutch Start date: ASAPAbout the roleFor a long-term assignment in Evere, we are looking for an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer to support a large-scale digital transformation of a legacy IT environment, with a strategic horizon up to 2030.In this role, you will be a key contributor to quality, reliability, and traceability within a major modernization program. You will design and maintain a future-proof test automation strategy, covering both functional and non-functional requirements, fully integrated into CI/CD pipelines.This is a unique opportunity to have a lasting impact on a critical transformation where automation and quality are essential success factors. Your responsibilitiesTest automation & architectureDesign, implement, and maintain automated tests in Python, applying OOP principles and design patterns:Page Object Model (UI interactions)Adapter Pattern (flexibility & extensibility)Build and optimize robust automation frameworks using Playwright for web applications.BDD & requirements validationWrite and execute BDD tests using Gherkin.Translate business and system requirements into clear, actionable test cases.Ensure full traceability between requirements, test cases, and results.CI/CD & integrated testingIntegrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.Actively support a shift-left quality approach across the software delivery lifecycle.Test management, reporting & monitoringMonitor, analyze, and report test results with a focus on fast, high-quality feedback.Manage test cases and executions using Xray for Jira.Document test plans, reports, and system behavior or performance analyses.Containerized testingUse Docker to create isolated, consistent, and reproducible test environments across the pipeline.End-to-end ownership & collaborationTake ownership of:Test strategyTest designTest automationCollaborate closely with developers, product owners, and QA teams to ensure business-aligned test coverage.Mentoring & knowledge sharingCoach and support junior testers.Promote best practices in test automation, debugging, and performance optimization. Required skills & qualificationsTechnicalStrong experience with Python, PyTest, and Cypress.Solid knowledge of OOP design principles and patterns.Proven expertise with Playwright for web test automation.Experience with TDD / BDD using Cucumber and Pickle.Experience with Git and Xray for Jira.Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).Hands-on experience with Docker.Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.PersonalStrong analytical mindset and attention to detail.Proactive, autonomous, and solution-oriented.Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management.Quality-driven and motivated to contribute to long-term system modernization. Nice to haveExperience with performance testing (e.g. Locust, JMeter).Knowledge of Agile testing methodologies and Scrum.Experience in large-scale digital transformation or legacy modernization programs.
