Mechanical Assembly Foreman - Antwerp - Full Time Opportunity

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Assembly Foreman to join an international engineering and automation environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation and build-up of process and automation systems at customer sites. You will initially work alongside experienced Site Managers and Foremen during a structured training period. Once you are fully familiar with the equipment, processes and working methods, you will take ownership of mechanical installation activities on-site.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working hands-on, has strong mechanical knowledge and is ready to take responsibility for the successful execution of installation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical assembly and installation of process and automation systems at customer sites.
• Take responsibility for day-to-day execution of mechanical installation activities after handover from the Project Manager.
• Coordinate and support the daily activities of the mechanical assembly team.
• Monitor the quality, progress and correct execution of installation work.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with project safety plans and applicable HSE/VGM requirements.
• Check delivered materials for quantity, quality and potential damage and report any discrepancies to the Project Manager.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, layouts and mechanical plans and translate them into practical installation work.
• Act as a professional point of contact for customers and other contractors on-site.
• Help ensure projects are delivered according to agreed quality, safety and planning requirements.
• Work closely with colleagues, project managers and other stakeholders to resolve technical or installation issues.

Required Skills & Experience

• Technical qualification in Welding & Construction, Welding & Mechanical Assembly, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
• Relevant practical experience may be considered in place of a formal qualification.
• Previous experience in mechanical assembly, machine installation, industrial construction, pipework or mechanical engineering projects.
• Good understanding of mechanical construction and assembly techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs and equipment layouts.
• Comfortable working on industrial sites and at height.
• Experience working with or willingness to operate scissor lifts/MEWPs and forklifts.
• Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
• Confident coordinating daily site activities and supporting a team.
• Good communication and customer-facing skills.
• Willingness to travel and occasionally stay overnight in hotels during projects.
• Dutch and English are required.
• French and/or German would be an advantage.
