About the RoleWe are seeking a Linux System Administrator to join a federal government institution as part of the BlueStack team. In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation, security, and maintenance of infrastructure and database environments that support critical public services. While much of the work can be performed remotely, you will occasionally visit the datacenters in Brussels.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain Linux-based systems (zLinux / RHEL) and related infrastructure.Monitor performance, analyze logs, and resolve incidents to maintain operational stability.Support datacenter hardware maintenance and coordinate with support engineers to resolve software and application issues.Participate in daily technical updates with stakeholders and document solutions for knowledge sharing.Identify and remediate system vulnerabilities with a focus on security and reliability.Track issues and resolutions using a ticketing system, escalating priorities when needed.Automate recurring tasks using RHEL Satellite or Ansible Automation Platform.Collaborate closely with developers, management, and technical leads to explain and resolve complex system issues.Required Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a System Administrator with strong skills in Linux (RHEL/zLinux).Familiarity with IBM FS9500 storage, Brocade SAN switches, or IBM zSystems is an asset.Intermediate understanding of networking (WAN/LAN) and basic Db2 database knowledge.Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Check_MK, or Icinga.Security-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to system monitoring and incident management.Strong communication skills in English and Dutch or French.Enthusiasm for automation and continuous improvementPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Ansible, Python).Exposure to database host management and reporting tools.Relevant industry certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) are a plus.
