FPGA ENGINEER - LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONThe FPGA Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-performance digital systems using Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). This role focuses on hardware description language (HDL) programming, primarily VHDL, to create robust, efficient, and scalable digital designs for a range of applications such as embedded systems, communications, industrial automation, or signal processing.The FPGA Engineer collaborates closely with hardware, software, and systems teams to translate system requirements into functional FPGA designs, perform simulations and verification, and support integration and production.The role requires hands-on experience with FPGA architectures, timing analysis, and design optimization, as well as a solid understanding of digital logic, verification methodologies, and embedded system design principles.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop FPGA designs using VHDL (primary) and/or Verilog, implementing digital logic, data processing, and control functionsDesign and implement high-speed interfaces, memory controllers, and custom IP coresOptimize FPGA designs for performance, area, and power efficiencyCreate and maintain block diagrams, RTL code, and design documentationDevelop and execute simulation and verification strategies to validate functionality and timingUse simulation tools and testbenches to identify and debug design issuesPerform static timing analysis, synthesis, and place-and-route to ensure design integrityCollaborate with hardware and software teams to perform system-level integration and testingInterface FPGA designs with microcontrollers, processors, sensors, and other digital or analog peripheralsSupport system integration, hardware bring-up, and debugging in laboratory or field environmentsAssist in the development of firmware and drivers as required for FPGA-controlled systemsQualifications & SkillsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related fieldStrong experience in FPGA design and development using VHDL (required)Familiarity with Verilog is a plusHands-on experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, ModelSim)Solid understanding of digital design principles, timing analysis, and signal integrityExperience with high-speed interfaces, memory systems, and embedded processingStrong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsThe Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
