Job Title: Data Analyst

Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days in a week need to go onsite)

Languages: English, Dutch or French

Description:

  • The EIL (Enterprise Integration Layer) team is looking for a Junior Data-Analyst. The team's mission is to ensure and guarantee data exchanges within the company and with its partners in a sustainable manner. To do this, the team develops and maintains several solutions for exchanging data in several application areas. The types of exchanges are mainly carried out via web services and/or event messages.
  • The work will consist of carrying out analyses linked to information exchange flows, making a proposal for adding or modifying these flows and communicating these changes to the teams in charge of implementation.
  • The person sought will take an active part in the EIL team and will work on a daily basis with the analysts, developers, testers, and architects of the team and related teams.

Main activities:

  • Analyze and model data flows from data producing and consuming applications.
  • Analyze user needs.
  • Model current flows and data objects (AS-IS).
  • Propose and model a data model and flows to meet the user's needs (TO-BE) while taking into account the team and company standards.
  • Formalize the analysis in a report intended for the development teams responsible for implementation.
  • Present the results of the analyses in a concise manner to customers, technical teams, and during the demo sprint.
  • Occasionally participate in code reviews by other developers on the team.
  • Actively contribute to the mapping of data flows using the enterprise integration layer.
  • Responsible for analysis deliverables.
  • Participate in operational support (Working day).
  • Responsible for keeping documentation up to date.
  • Communicate with project managers on the progress of analyses and clearly report the risks associated with exceeding deadlines.
  • Be the point of reference for the integration team on the subjects analyzed.
  • Defend the principles of integration in other teams of the company as well as with suppliers.
  • Participate in the process of testing delivered flows.
  • Encourage continuous improvement of the quality of processes, tools used and work procedures.

Technical skills specific to the mission and its specific environment:

  • UML modelling (class diagram, activity diagram, sequence diagram, use case).
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools (MS-Excel, Power query, SQL).
  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design.
  • Knowledge of data transfer protocols (http, FTP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of XML, XSD, JSON, and data transformations.
  • General knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles, Queuing, web services (SOAP / REST).
  • General knowledge of development tools (Git, VS Studio).

Functional skills:

  • Experience and sector knowledge (transport) is not required but is an asset.
  • Knowledge of computer systems.

  • Project management.
