Senior Streaming Data Engineer

We are looking for a pragmatic, hands-on Data Engineer who enjoys building systems end-to-end and taking responsibility for how they perform in the real world. This role is ideal for someone comfortable wearing multiple hats, especially switching from data mindset to software mindset, making trade-offs, and prioritizing delivery over perfection in a fast-moving scale up environment.Your roleDesign, build, and operate real-time data pipelines, continuously ingesting and processing event streams from our IoT device fleet in production.Deliver and maintain curated, pre-aggregated datasets that power both internal use cases and internet-facing analytics dashboards.Own technical design discussions end to end: work closely with product, engineering, and operations to translate business needs into robust data solutions, evaluate real-world constraints (cost, performance, reliability), and drive alignment on pragmatic trade-offs.Take responsibility for data systems in production, including data quality monitoring, alerting, incident follow-up, and supporting downstream data applications.What we are looking forProven production experience designing, building, and operating data systems, including:a) Real-time data pipelines and streaming use casesb) Batch ETL/ELT jobsc) Data migrations and system integrationsd) Data modeling for analytical and operational workloadsStrong stakeholder collaboration skills: ability to lead technical discussions, translate business needs into technical solutions, balance constraints (cost, performance, maintainability), and drive consensus on pragmatic trade-offs.Solid implementation experience in Python and SQL, with a track record of delivering production-ready systems, including testing, deployment, and CI/CD integration.Ownership mindset: willingness to be accountable for systems in production, including setting up data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, and actively following up on incidents or regressions.Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and maintain data and cloud resources in a repeatable, reliable way.Good knowledge of event-driven systemsAbility to communicate clearly in English.With some (or all) of the following points, you have a clear plusKnowledge of data security and privacy principles; familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, NIS2, CRA, or similar is a strong plus.Experience working with time-series data and data catalogs.Experience in non data-specific software projects (microservices, web framework, standalone apps,...).Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem, especially serverless services (or equivalent experience on another cloud provider).Exposure to technologies such as TimescaleDB, MQTT, pandas, and Protocol Buffers.Exposure to the energy management system (EMS) domain (asset management, energy markets, etc).What we valueAgile mindset.A bias toward simple, operable solutions over over-engineering.Readiness to make and explain trade-offs.A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for outcomes, not just code.What’s in it for youAn incredibly interesting and diverse job in a dynamic and fast-growing cleantech scale-up.
