Cloudflare Specialist

We are seeking two Freelance Cloudflare Subject-Matter Experts to support a leading financial market infrastructure undergoing a major cybersecurity uplift, expanded Cloudflare adoption, and preparation for a large data-centre migration. These experts will join one of four specialised security squads and take full strategic and technical ownership of the organisation’s Cloudflare platform.LogisticsPosition: Freelance Cloudflare SME (Cybersecurity)Duration: 12-month contract, extendable up to 3 yearsLocation: Brussels (Hybrid, mostly remote - approx. 4 days/month on-site)Start Date: ASAP – ideally mid–end JanuaryDay Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)Languages: English (French is a plus)Key ResponsibilitiesAct as the organisation’s primary Subject Matter Expert for Cloudflare, driving best-practice implementation across multiple security and business domainsOwn, manage, and optimise the Cloudflare platform, including governance, documentation, and standardsContribute expert guidance to the organisation’s 2026–2027 data-centre migrationWork closely with internal security, client-facing security, and cryptography-focused squadsLead advanced Cloudflare use cases including WAF, DDoS protection, Zero Trust, CDN, API Gateway, Workers, and related capabilitiesSupport architectural decisions, policy refinement, and coordination across teamsIdeal CandidateProven deep-dive Cloudflare expertise in complex enterprise or critical-infrastructure environmentsStrong cybersecurity and network-security background with hands-on ownership of security toolsAbility to drive Cloudflare strategy end-to-end, from design and optimisation to troubleshooting and governanceStrong analytical and communication skills, able to explain technical topics to diverse stakeholdersComfortable working autonomously while collaborating within structured security squadsDesirableExperience with WAF tuning, DDoS mitigation, Zero Trust frameworks, edge services, and API securityKnowledge of PKI, cryptography, or secure identity mechanisms (highly valued for crypto squads)Experience in regulated or financial environments, or exposure to policy and standards writingInterested in taking full ownership of Cloudflare within a highly critical European financial organisation?Apply now - early conversations with the hiring team are already underway.
