The experience we are actively looking for:
  1. 8-10 years of procurement experience in large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects, ideally within steelmaking, heavy manufacturing, or similar environments.
  2. Strong expertise in supplier and vendor management, contract negotiations, and procurement process management.
  3. Proven track record of developing procurement strategies and executing market analysis for complex supply chains.
  4. Deep understanding of cost control, budget tracking, and logistics coordination for industrial projects.
  5. Familiarity with Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology or steelmaking-related procurement would be a strong asset.
  6. Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills to interface effectively with engineering, finance, and project teams.
  7. Proficiency in procurement management software and MS Office applications.

The scope of this intrapreneurial project is to establish a procurement strategy for a groundbreaking Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking facility, ensuring supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and strategic vendor management.

The Key responsibilities expected from our consultant are:Completion Role:
  1. Develop, design, and implement the procurement strategy for the project.
  2. Develop detailed procurement plans—including timelines, milestones, and critical procurement activities.
  3. Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and vendors.
  4. Develop contingency plans for critical equipment and materials.
  5. Prepare and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Invitations to Tender (ITB) in collaboration with the engineering and project management teams.
  6. Provide procurement input during the design phases to help ensure that materials and equipment meet technical requirements.
  7. Provide technical support to suppliers and assist in resolving any technical challenges that arise during procurement or fabrication.
  8. Estimate procurement costs.
  9. Implement cost-saving initiatives.
  10. Develop inventory management strategies to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
  11. Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, including contracts, purchase orders, RFQs, and supplier correspondence.
Evaluation Role:
  1. Evaluate the capabilities and financial stability of potential suppliers and vendors.
  2. Assess the supply chain risk.
  3. Evaluate proposals based on technical specifications, quality, pricing, delivery timelines, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  4. Monitor the progress of purchase orders.
  5. Track supplier performance to ensure compliance with contract terms (quality, delivery, and cost control).
  6. Conduct regular performance reviews with suppliers and take corrective actions as needed.
  7. Identify potential supply chain risks.
  8. Track expenditures and ensure procurement costs are accurately tracked.
  9. Identify opportunities for cost reductions.
  10. Review and approve supplier invoices to ensure they reflect the agreed-upon terms and conditions.
  11. Monitor inventory levels of critical materials and equipment.
  12. Support internal and external audits by reviewing procurement processes and documentation for thoroughness, accuracy, and compliance.
Coordination Role:
  1. Ensure the procurement strategy aligns with overall project objectives.
  2. Ensure procurement plans are aligned with project phases.
  3. Lead the prequalification process for suppliers and vendors—ensuring they meet the technical, financial, and operational requirements.
  4. Manage the tender process and ensure that all commercial and technical criteria are thoroughly assessed.
  5. Lead negotiations with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable terms, prices, and delivery schedules.
  6. Ensure that all procurement contracts are legally sound, aligned with project goals, and protect the company's interests.
  7. Oversee the placement of purchase orders, ensuring materials, equipment, and services are procured on schedule and according to specifications.
  8. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors—ensuring ongoing communication and collaboration to address issues, resolve disputes, and secure timely delivery.
  9. Work with suppliers to mitigate identified supply chain risks.
  10. Collaborate closely with the engineering teams to ensure that procurement activities align with the project's technical specifications.
  11. Participate in technical reviews and interface meetings to ensure that procurement activities remain aligned with evolving project design and specifications.
  12. Manage the procurement budget in partnership with project finance teams.
  13. Ensure that procurement activities stay within budget and that any deviations are promptly reported and addressed.
  14. Work with the finance team to ensure that payments are made on time.
  15. Coordinate with the logistics team to manage the transportation and delivery of materials and equipment—ensuring all items arrive on time and in good condition.
  16. Ensure compliance with all relevant customs and import/export regulations.
  17. Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, local laws, and industry standards (including environmental and safety regulations).
  18. Provide regular procurement status reports to the Project Director and senior management.
  19. Lead and mentor the procurement team—providing guidance on procurement processes, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
  20. Ensure that the procurement team is adequately trained on procurement policies, industry best practices, and specific project requirements.
