Fike is seeking a motivated Engineer Fire Protection to join our dynamic Engineering team in Herentals, Belgium. In this role, you will play a key part in both the ongoing development and sustaining of our Fire Products portfolio. You will work on cutting-edge technical solutions, gain deep expertise in international fire protection system certifications, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external partners. This position offers a balance of hands-on technical design, testing, certification management, and occasional travel (approximately once per month) to support project milestones, site assessments, or partner collaborations.


In this role, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Provide technical support for the ongoing development, product enhancements, and sustaining lifecycle of Fike's Fire Products.
  • Learn and apply applicable industry standards, norms, and fire protection system certifications. Participate in industry standards committees, and coordinate with 3rd-party certification bodies, product specialists, and regulatory authorities to obtain and maintain global approvals.
  • Work directly with customers to provide fire suppression solutions tailored to specific applications.
  • Develop test programs for fire product functionality, failure modes, and application criteria; oversee progress, analyze data, and report findings. Utilize 3D software for engineering designs, drafting modification instructions, and updating item data records or bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Partner with sales, marketing, production, and quality departments to resolve technical inquiries, clarify requirements, or conduct material assessments.
  • Travel roughly once per month for project support, certification audits, or customer/partner site visits.
  • Develop an understanding of applicable industry standards and norms and effectively applying them.
  • Safeguarding the confidentiality of all entrusted information.


Essential skills required:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Solid working knowledge of 3D CAD software and standard office basic software.
  • High motivation and eagerness to learn international fire protection system codes, standards, and approval processes.
  • Willingness and availability to travel approximately once per month.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to critically evaluate technical data and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships across internal departments and external partners.
  • Fluent command of English, both written and spoken (essential).

Desirable / Optional Skills:

  • Familiarity or prior experience with European fire protection standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., EN standards, VdS, LPCB, or CPR / CE marking compliance).
  • Knowledge or practical experience in project management principles.
