Are you an experienced accountant ready to take the next step towards a Financial Controller role? Do you enjoy working in a growing environment where you can combine accounting expertise with financial analysis and process improvement? An international company active in environmental testing, laboratory services and sustainability solutions is looking for a Financial Controller to join its finance team in Ghent.

This is a hands-on position with responsibility for the financial and accounting activities of several Belgian entities. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and various stakeholders across the group, while also supporting one finance colleague.

Your responsibilities :

Manage the accounting activities of several Belgian entities.
Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
Prepare and review financial reporting and statutory accounts.
Ensure compliance with Belgian GAAP and support VAT and tax-related processes.
Coordinate audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
Translate financial results into clear insights supporting business decisions.
Work with group stakeholders and, to a limited extent, French entities.
Support the integration of new entities and the harmonisation of finance processes.
Coach and support one member of the finance team.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and further professionalise the finance function.

Your profile :

You have a achelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance or a related field.
You have at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
You are accurate, analytical and hands-on approach, combined with a strong sense of ownership.
You are proactive and comfortable working in a changing and growing environment.
You are fluent in Dutch and good command of English; basic French is a plus.
You are based in or around the Ghent region.
