Senior Data Scientist – Fraud Detection

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and continuously improve fraud detection models using machine learning, anomaly detection, graph analytics and behavioral analytics.
  • Collect, curate, structure and enrich large-scale transactional and customer datasets to improve fraud detection capabilities.
  • Perform advanced feature engineering, data analysis and pattern discovery to identify fraudulent behaviours and emerging fraud trends.
  • Investigate complex fraud schemes and identify new attack vectors to develop proactive detection strategies.
  • Work closely with Fraud Operations, Risk, Compliance and Product teams to translate business needs into scalable data science solutions.
  • Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions into production using robust software engineering and data science practices.
  • Continuously improve fraud models based on new data, business requirements and evolving fraud patterns.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative AI solutions within a multidisciplinary and international environment.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Science, with strong hands-on experience in Fraud Detection; 7+ years is preferred.
  • Proven experience developing AI/ML applications for fraud detection or financial crime prevention.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL and Pandas.
  • Experience with Spark/Hadoop or other distributed data processing technologies and large-scale datasets.
  • Strong knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning, anomaly detection, graph analytics and network analysis.
  • Experience with data preparation, enrichment, feature engineering and validation for machine learning models.
  • Experience deploying AI/ML solutions into production; Java experience is an advantage.
  • Financial sector/banking experience, particularly fraud detection, is strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or another quantitative discipline.
  • Fluent English and strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
