Strategic Procurement & Buying Specialist

Your responsibilities:

As a Strategic Procurement & Buying Specialist, you will be embedded within the procurement team of one of our key pharmaceutical clients in Belgium, contributing to the optimisation of procurement processes and the management of supplier relationships across engineering, production, packaging, construction and capital service categories.

• Source new suppliers and manage existing supplier relationships to maximise value and reduce risk across the site

• Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, conduct bid analyses and support the development and implementation of category strategies in collaboration with global Category Strategy Managers

• Review and manage the procurement schedule, process purchase orders and resolve invoice queries

• Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities for project teams and internal stakeholders

• Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, eliminate wasteful processes and contribute to cost savings through competitive bidding and market trend analysis

• Develop and strengthen internal customer procurement relationships to drive continuous improvement and mitigate supply risks

• Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulatory requirements, including healthcare laws and ethical procurement practices

• Leverage AI tools, including LLM (Large Language Models) and AI-enabled SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) platforms, to enhance procurement efficiency, supplier intelligence and decision-making

Your profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related discipline

• Proven buying experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector

• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills

• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously while meeting deadlines

• Solid analytical skills to interpret market data, conduct spend analysis and support category strategy

• Proficient in SAP or equivalent ERP systems

• Comfortable using AI tools (LLM, AI-enabled SRM) in a procurement context ; experience or strong interest in AI-driven procurement is a plus

• Good understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory environment (compliance, healthcare laws, ethical practices)

• Fluent in both English and Dutch (mandatory)
