Project Description:


The Industrial Asset Management Engineer will be part of our client's asset team and will contribute to the set-up, implementation and continuous improvement of the asset management system of the department, applied to civil structures and building assets within an industrial environment in Hoboken. Asset management is the primary discipline of this role; civil and structural engineering is the application domain.

The focus is on tactical asset planning, maintenance strategy and lifecycle management for industrial civil and building assets, and on capturing, structuring and converting operational complaints and opportunities into concrete improvement proposals.


• Project objectives: build and embed a working asset management approach for civil and building assets, increase structural reliability, reduce safety and compliance risks, and create predictable lifecycle costs.

• Scope: asset management system set-up and implementation, tactical asset planning, maintenance strategy, criticality and risk management, lifecycle engineering, degradation and inspection data interpretation, work preparation input and small improvement projects.

• Context: The asset management maturity of the department is still developing, so the Engineer is expected to work pragmatically, learn by doing and shape the process rather than only execute an existing one.

• Key stakeholders: AM engineers, work coordinators, inspectors, contractors, condition-monitoring partners, design departments, production departments and operational teams.



Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:


Asset Management System – Set-up and Implementation

• Contribute to the design, set-up and roll-out of the asset management system for civil and building assets within the department (processes, asset register, criticality framework, maintenance strategy logic, KPIs and documentation flows).

• Translate asset management principles (ISO 55000 logic, risk-based decision making, lifecycle thinking) into practical, usable working methods for an industrial production site.

• Standardize and structure asset data, asset hierarchies and maintenance concepts so that decisions become repeatable and auditable.

• Help embed the asset management way of working with production, maintenance and engineering stakeholders.


Core Responsibilities:


• Set up tactical plans for the structural reliability, safety and lifetime of civil and building assets.

• Create, manage and improve multi-year maintenance plans for civil structures and building assets.

• Capture, structure and analyze complaints, asset issues and operational opportunities from the production environment.

• Translate identified risks and opportunities into concrete maintenance strategies, improvement actions and project proposals.

• Define and follow up relevant performance indicators for civil and structural asset management.


Continuous Improvement and Risk Analysis:

• Investigate degradation, deficiencies and incidents to control and reduce structural risks.

• Perform root cause analyses for structural deficiencies and recurring technical issues.

• Interpret inspection and RBI data, including trends, degradation curves and remaining-life assessments.

• Formulate mitigation and preventive measures and translate them into maintenance strategies.

• Use criticality and risk-analysis methods to prioritize asset interventions and lifecycle measures.


Work Preparation:

• Work preparation tasks are an explicit part of this assignment: prepare interventions to an execution-ready level (scope, technical description, required documents, permits and safety conditions, materials and contractor input, planning constraints).

• Prepare and hand over work packages to the work coordinator and follow up on execution feedback to improve maintenance plans and strategies.

• Ensure the balance between engineering and work preparation is managed in dialogue with the asset team; the role is not a pure work coordinator function.


Small Improvement Projects:

• Convert defined measures into practical civil and structural improvement actions.

• Define scope, risks, planning and budget for small-scale civil and building interventions.

• Coordinate and guide contractors and condition-monitoring partners during engineering and execution phases.

• Provide technical direction, quality control and documentation follow-up for assigned interventions.

• Prepare project-scope documents and CAPEX/OPEX proposals where required.


Asset Design and Lifecycle Engineering:

• Ensure civil and buildin
