Scrum Master - About the Role
A well-established organization in the Brussels area is seeking a Senior Scrum Master to drive Agile excellence, team organization, and process optimization. This is a permanent employee position, offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic, IT-driven environment where Agile practices are central to success.
This role is suited for a seasoned Scrum Master who can work independently, contribute at a strategic level, and help improve the software factory's daily operations alongside senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, working closely with teams, driving Agile transformations, and actively shaping the organizational structure and operational efficiencies beyond theoretical coaching.
Scrum Master - Key Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize Agile frameworks within development teams, ensuring efficiency in software delivery.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders (including Maarten and other key leads) to refine Agile ways of working across the organization.
- Provide hands-on coaching and support, actively contributing to team structure and Agile maturity.
- Set up and structure teams, ensuring operational readiness and scalability.
- Support the software factory by aligning Agile methodologies with DevOps principles.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and stand-ups.
- Act as a strategic advisor for continuous process improvements, workflow efficiency, and Agile adoption.
- Contribute to Jira administration and configuration, ensuring teams have the right setup for effective Agile execution.
- Coach development teams and business stakeholders, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and transparency.
- Encourage a pragmatic Agile approach, focusing on real-world application rather than just theory.
- Provide DevOps-oriented coaching where applicable, leveraging experience in IT operations.
Scrum Master - Required Skills & Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience as a Scrum Master in an IT-focused organization.
- Strong background in IT, ideally with experience in software development, DevOps, or IT operations.
- Proven ability to set up and structure teams, with an understanding of Agile at both the team and organizational levels.
- Deep understanding of Scrum, Agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, Kanban, XP), and Agile transformation strategies.
- Hands-on experience with Jira administration and configuration to support Agile workflows.
- Experience in operational Agile coaching, conducting workshops, and working directly with teams.
- Ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders and drive Agile adoption across departments.
- Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to engage teams and ensure Agile processes align with business goals.
- DevOps knowledge or experience is a plus, especially in coaching teams towards Agile-DevOps best practices.
- Practical experience with continuous improvement methodologies, backlog management, and team performance tracking.
Scrum Master - Required Profile
- 5+ years of hands-on Scrum Master experience in a technology-driven environment.
- Technical background or exposure to software development and IT operations.
- Experience working in scaled Agile environments (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus, etc.).
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a plus.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM I/II) or equivalent Agile certification is highly desirable.
