Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect with strong platform engineering experience to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in defining cloud strategy, architecture standards, and platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to deliver solutions efficiently and securely.

This role combines deep technical expertise in cloud architecture with a strong understanding of platform engineering, DevOps practices, automation, infrastructure as code, and modern cloud-native technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise cloud architecture strategy, standards, and roadmap.
• Design scalable, secure, highly available, and cost-effective cloud solutions across public, private, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Lead the development and evolution of cloud platforms that enable self-service capabilities for engineering and delivery teams.
• Partner with engineering, security, operations, and business stakeholders to align cloud solutions with organisational objectives.
• Establish cloud governance, architecture principles, and best practices.
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
• Drive platform engineering initiatives focused on automation, standardisation, developer experience, and operational excellence.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies that support secure and efficient software delivery.
• Ensure cloud environments meet security, compliance, resilience, and performance requirements.
• Provide architectural leadership for cloud migration, modernisation, and transformation programmes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations that support long-term platform and cloud strategy.
• Collaborate with security teams to implement cloud security controls, identity management, and governance frameworks.
• Optimise cloud consumption and costs through effective architecture and FinOps practices.
• Support incident resolution and root cause analysis for complex platform and cloud-related issues.
• Mentor engineers, architects, and technical teams on cloud architecture, platform engineering, and DevOps best practices.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, technical designs, and governance artefacts.

Required Skills & Experience

• Significant experience in a Cloud Architect, Platform Architect, or similar senior technical role.
• Proven expertise in at least one major cloud platform:
• Microsoft Azure
• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Strong understanding of platform engineering concepts and developer enablement practices.
• Experience designing and managing cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or CloudFormation.
• Strong knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, security architectures, identity and access management, and governance frameworks.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and operational tooling.
