Head of Accounting Department: Finance Employment Type: Full Time Location: Agomab Antwerp Description We are looking for a Head of Accounting to expand our Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be a key contributor in building a dynamic accounting and finance organization dedicated to financial integrity and focused on supporting our growth strategy. Key Responsibilities What will you do? Lead and manage the end-to-end accounting function, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data. Supervise month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance. Manage balance sheet reconciliations and review journal entries prepared by the accounting team. Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting standards (BEGAAP) and local tax laws, including VAT and corporate tax filings. Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation and submission of audit schedules and documentation. Drive the SAP S/4HANA accounting module, maintenance, and optimization. Prepare and deliver financial reports, statutory accounts, and tax filings. Provide guidance on complex accounting matters, technical memos, and position papers. Support consolidation processes, group reporting, and intercompany reconciliations Develop and update internal controls and accounting policies to meet regulatory and corporate standards. Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation within the accounting function. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Who are you? You have a master’s degree in finance (or similar). At least 10 years’ experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 2 years of international experience. Excellent people management skills, is a real change manager and has a structured approach. A leaderships style that develops trust and respect. Fluent in English and Dutch. Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP (BEGAAP), Belgian tax law, consolidation and IFRS. Proven experience with SAP S/4HANA in an accounting capacity. Willing to come to the Antwerp office at least two days per week. Background in biotechnology organizations with complex stakeholder, regulatory, or financial oversight requirements.
