We believe in Smart Matching, Sharp Talent, and Strong Delivery, ensuring the right expert is delivered at the right time. 🎯 Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Security Engineer to strengthen data protection, governance, and incident response capabilities within a large Microsoft 365 environment. The consultant will lead the implementation of Microsoft Purview, Defender for Endpoint, and Defender for Cloud Apps (MCAS) to enhance data classification, labeling, and loss prevention policies. The goal is to modernize the organization's data governance and cybersecurity framework, ensuring compliance with new regulatory and security standards. You will act as a technical subject-matter expert for Microsoft security technologies, working closely with internal IT, Security, and Compliance teams. Key Responsibilities Microsoft Purview & Data Governance Design, implement, and manage Microsoft Purview across Microsoft 365 and connected data sources. Develop a data classification and protection framework using sensitivity labels, DLP policies, and auto-labeling. Configure encryption, watermarks, and access controls based on sensitivity labels. Implement and optimize Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for email, SharePoint, Teams, and endpoints. Deploy and fine-tune trainable classifiers to detect PII, financial, or regulated data. Integrate Purview with Defender for Cloud Apps (MCAS) for unified governance. Generate compliance, audit, and DLP reports to support internal security audits. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (EDR) & ASR Deploy, configure, and manage Defender for Endpoint for threat detection, investigation, and response. Implement Threat & Vulnerability Management (TVM) for proactive risk mitigation. Integrate EDR with SIEM and reporting platforms for centralized visibility. Define and manage Attack Surface Reduction (ASR) rules via Intune or Group Policy. Test and deploy new Microsoft 365 security features. Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MCAS) Design and manage MCAS for SaaS application monitoring and security. Configure app discovery, conditional access, and anomaly detection policies. Integrate MCAS with Purview and DLP to ensure consistent data security. Support compliance and governance teams in managing cloud risks. Governance, Training & Continuous Improvement Establish data security standards, access rules, and audit procedures. Train internal users on sensitivity labeling, DLP, and security best practices. Document and improve operational and incident workflows. Act as a Microsoft Security SME, advising on resilience, data integrity, and governance improvements. 🧠 Required Skills & Experience Proven experience with Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance tools (Purview, Defender, MCAS). Strong knowledge of data classification, DLP, and endpoint protection frameworks. Hands-on experience with Microsoft E5 security stack implementation. Familiarity with Intune, Group Policy, and Microsoft Security Center. Excellent understanding of data governance and cybersecurity principles. Strong analytical and communication skills. Fluent in English (French or Dutch is a plus). Nice-to-Have Experience with data governance or regulatory compliance (e.g., NIS2, ISO 27001, GDPR). Knowledge of Threat Intelligence, SIEM integration, or SOC environments. Relevant certifications: Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst / Information Protection Administrator / Azure Security Engineer Associate. 👤 Profile Autonomous and structured professional with a strong security mindset.
