HOGENT consists of eight departments: Business and Organization; Biosciences and Industrial Technology; Healthcare; IT and Digital Innovation; Teacher Education; Environment; Graduate Programs; and Social-Agogic Work.

In addition, there is the School of Arts, the E-lab, as well as the research centers. The research centers are autonomous interdisciplinary research entities of HOGENT that are responsible for research-related activities.

To support the management, departments, School of Arts and the E-lab, there is an overarching administration.

Each department comprises one or more educational centers. The educational center encompasses a cluster of related bachelor's programs, specializations, postgraduate programs, etc., and serves as the basic unit for each (teaching) staff member.

Each member of the teaching staff is assigned to a team. A team is a group of staff members from the educational center who come together based on one or more common themes (possible examples include: same expertise, same specialization, identical curriculum).
