We're looking for an experienced Full-Stack Developer (Java + React) to join a major organisation in the financial services industry in Belgium. You'll work on a range of impactful initiatives - building scalable services, modernising customer-facing applications, and contributing to a high-performing engineering environment that supports innovation across the business. Logistics Position: Freelance Full-Stack Developer – Java & React Duration: 12-month contract (with potential extension) Day Rate: €(Competitive & Negotiable) Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week) Start Date: ASAP Core Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java (backend) and React (frontend). Collaborate with product owners, architects, and fellow engineers to refine requirements and deliver high-quality solutions. Contribute to the development of modular, secure, and scalable APIs and services. Implement intuitive and responsive user interfaces that enhance customer and internal user experiences. Participate in Agile ceremonies and support continuous delivery practices. Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices. Help shape architectural decisions and technical direction across ongoing and greenfield projects. Essential Skills & Experience Strong professional experience as a Full-Stack Developer using Java (Spring ecosystem preferred) and React. Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and microservices. Experience working in complex, enterprise-grade environments—ideally within financial services or other regulated industries. Ability to translate functional requirements into clean, maintainable, and performant code. Comfortable working within Agile teams and collaborating closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
