Resource Matters wishes to recruit an intern to assist in the improvement of three interactive platforms: Cobalt Supply Chains, Congo Epela and Makuta Ya Maendeleo.


We are looking for someone who feels comfortable in the management and structuring of quantitative data and who wishes to contribute to the analysis of this data with a view to improving governance in extractive industries.


The position to be filled will extend over a minimum period of 3 months (full-time), possibly renewable until the end of the year.

The trainee will be based in Belgium and will benefit from a net allowance between €800 and €1,000 per month depending on qualifications and experience.

The position will start as soon as possible.

Tasks:

  • Assist in the search for new transactions concerning cobalt in view of updating the Cobalt Supply Chains platform.
  • Process geographical data using QGIS and the OnSSET tool (to be learned during the internship) to assist in updating the Congo Epela platform.
  • Data entry for the update of the Makuta platform.
  • Assist the research coordinator in the production of analysis notes concerning the themes of the platforms using the information available.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree in the fields of economics, political science, development, geography or any other directly relevant field
  • Have knowledge of Excel
  • Have knowledge of QGIS, ArcGIS or another mapping program
  • Strong capacity for processing but also for analyzing quantitative data
  • Strong autonomy and selfsufficiency
  • Good knowledge of the Office package
  • Strong ability to understand and communicate in English and French (preferred but not necessary)
