The Client:


A leading specialty chemical manufacturer, supporting high value markets, such as personal care, pharmaceuticals, têxtiles, agriculture, paints, coatings and rubber.

The business serves its customers from 14 facilities, located throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

The Role:

Business management of personal care division in EU region. Will be responsible for the regional sales, and business development activities. This role will report to the global business director located in USA.

Key Responsibilities:

EU business management:
  • Provide marketing and sales support for product portfolio development in the EU markets, including market intelligence, key account, distribution and territory management.
  • Oversee and manage performance of EU distribution network.
  • Provide input to the marketing plans, forecast and budget as needed.
  • Support distributors in EU region, to provide technical formulation guidance to them and their customers.
  • Understand the key markets drivers, adapt a marketing strategy, understand new product developments and market trends to gain competitive advantage.
  • Lead with negotiations in EU on closing new business and getting all the support needed from marketing / technical teams, both in the region and from the global headquarter.
  • Prepare sales and marketing analysis reports, about the Business Segment, plans and marketing initiatives for increasing market share, growth and competition analysis, including but not limited to, participation in technical, trade and distribution shows, commercial and technical conferences.
  • Identify targets (large brands) to approach directly to drive opportunities into cosmetics and suncare segments.
  • Develop to become lead for Evercare on regulatory matters on zinc oxide in EU region
  • Support Tenray new product development in EU region Technology
  • Work collaboratively with Evercare technical team in USA on new product developments.
  • Develop market outreach tools and messages to support growth and opportunity development in EMEA.

Commercial:

  • Responsible for the growth and development of customer accounts through insight.
  • Responsible for development and management of sales pursuits/relationships and strategic development of accounts.
  • Lead pricing strategy development and pricing reviews, develops bid and proposal estimates and manages proposal budgets.
  • Negotiate contracts in collaboration with and support from operations, legal and risk.
  • Manage distribution sales channel in EU with focus on growth.
  • Develop direct relationships at cosmetic brand majors in EU region to obtain VOC and ideally develop new projects.
  • Deliver the sales plan for EU region.
  • Work collaboratively with EU based production team and provide accurate forecasts to facilitate production planning.
  • Oversee and work collaboratively with regional CSR person for business unit.

Marketing:

  • Work to identify and drive opportunities through the stage gating process and, if endorsed, provide technical marketing leadership during the design, launch, and commercialization of New Products.
  • Understand customers' future needs, keep abreast of market developments and competitive products. Feedback to shape the development strategy and technical innovation programs.
  • Identify and define new market opportunities aligned with our technical and product capabilities.
  • Deliver presentations to customer key stakeholders promoting and influencing through technical data /information/knowledge to customers, partners, and end users.

Technical:

  • Develop and maintain a high degree of technical proficiency regarding product offerings and capabilities as they align with customer requirements and strategic segments. Work effectively with existing and potential customers to develop solutions that expand the use of our products and/or design new ones while strengthening business relationships.
  • Understanding the internal/external customer needs related to new product, new formulation, new materials, new chemical process development.
  • Conducting/assisting with lab trials, and new process development for product improvement and innovation.

Requirements and Desired Skills:

  • Bachelors in chemistry, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Marketing, sales experience as well as solid finance knowledge.
  • Demonstratable experience, within speciality chemicals with strong knowledge of Suncare, Personal Care or Cosmetic chemistry/market
  • Willingness to travel in EU region approx. 30% of your time with occasional travel to USA
  • Strong skills in the areas: project management, planning, organizing, negotiation, coordinating, controlling and innovation.
  • Selfmanagement: be able to operate independently with guidance where necessary with minimum supervision.
