Capacity for Nutrition - National Information Platforms for Nutrition (C4N-NIPN) is one of three action areas of the 'Knowledge for Nutrition (K4N)' programme and supports the European Commission (EC), its partners as well as the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with competence and knowledge to strengthen nutrition-related programmes.
Launched in 2015, NIPN is an EC initiative, ((NIPN - National Information Platforms for Nutrition (nipn-nutrition-), which works closely with platforms in nine countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America for better nutrition information systems and improve data analysis for better-informed strategic decisions.
The Global Coordination unit in Brussels, Belgium supports the strengthening and sustainability of multi-stakeholder processes by coordinating support and capacity development for the platforms and also facilitates collaboration between the implementing partners.
We are looking for a Nutrition Advisor for Capacity for Nutrition - National Information Platforms for Nutrition (C4N-NIPN) (M/F/d) for our team in Brussels starting 1 May 2023.
The responsibilities of the position include:
- Implementation of the NIPN approach through the strengthening and sustainability of multi-stakeholder processes by coordinating support and capacity development to the platform teams and their partners;
- Coordinate steering structures of the NIPN initiative, organising meetings and facilitating collaboration between NIPN implementing partners and our donors;
- Contribute to regular technical and functional NIPN capacity building activites, e.g., webinars, workshops, annual global gathering, to support the implementation of the NIPN approach;
- Prepare technical input for knowledge and advocacy products, such as, case studies, articles, briefs and presentations;
- Elaborate terms of reference for technical assistance assignments as well as backstop consultants and assess the quality of their services and deliverables, especially related to the development of regional structures and processes;
- Facilitate dialogue and collaboration with nutrition data initiatives and fora, e.g., EC-NIS, Nutrition Data Partners Group, SUN MEAL Advisory Group;
- Support EC engagement in global events, particularly with focus on best practices from the implementation of NIPN;
- Assist in the overall management of the C4N-NIPN global coordination functions and other tasks for C4N, as needed;
Your profile
- University degree in nutrition, public health, food and nutrition security, or development studies;
- Ideally five years of relevant experience in nutrition in external assistance and/or development cooperation in developing countries, including experience working in governmental bodies, multilateral organisations and/or nongovernmental organisations;
- Experience in capacity development on multistakeholder collaboration, data analysis skills and/or communication and advocacy skills,
- Experience in the coordination of diverse implementing partners, including German development cooperation, to achieve common results and preparing regular donor reporting;
- Excellent grasp of international and national nutrition governance structures, including familiarity with the process to develop national nutrition strategies and action plans for nutrition;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in establishing good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at national and global levels;
- Team orientation, flexibility within a rapidlychanging environment, with a high degree of motivation to achieve results and to deliver goaloriented results on time;
- Excellent language skills in English and French (C2), language skills in German and/or Spanish (B2) are an asset.
We offer a contract from 1 May 2023 until 30 June 2025 with GIZ in Brussels under Belgian law (PC200) with the potential that the programme is going to be prolonged.
In addition to the legal holidays, you will receive 5 extra days of holiday per calendar year, as well as lunch checks, health insurance for hospitalisation and the reimbursement of a monthly ticket for Brussels public transport and the possibility for home office in accordance with our respective policy.
