JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sales Director will report to the Managing Director and will support him in both the strategic direction and management of the sales organisation

This involves:

  • As a member of the company's strategy team, define, execute and effectively communicate the sales strategy and tactics to keep the organisation competitive and innovative.
  • Deliver top line sales growth with new and existing customers and products, within existing and future markets.
  • Evaluate market research, competitor and customer surveys and execute strategies and tactics in line with evaluations.
  • Understand and evaluate market and technology trends in locking systems (both mechanical and electronic), identify new commercial opportunities and initiate product development to increase revenues and profit using the LSD's New Growth Innovation (NGI) process.
  • Build and maintain strong, longlasting customer relationships through working collaboratively with the sales and marketing team.
  • Help to provide outstanding customer service through prompt and accurate support and advice.
  • Negotiate, manage, renew, review contracts as required to enable effective trading, operations and customer/supplier relations.
  • Maximise company and Group profit, set and deliver forecast, and achieve annual sales, gross profit and sales overhead targets.
  • Set, review and provide feedback on expectations for direct reports, improve their skills and technical ability in line with the company goals and their career aspirations.
  • Communicate regular updates on key performance indicators to Group, MD and the team.
  • Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales targets for markets, subsegments, A and B customers, countries and territories. Project expected sales and gross profit for existing and new products.
  • Work as part of the management team to share ideas and improve sales, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


You should have seven to 10 years' experience in a senior sales management role such as Sales or Marketing Director in a similar industry.

You should be knowledgeable in creating client-focused solutions and positioning products and services against competitors.

You will have consistently delivered profitable growth in a demanding business environment.

In particular, you are likely to:
- be of university degree level;
- already be operating at a senior level;
- have considerable experience in sales of well-engineered and bespoke products.

  • Proven Sales team management skills, having delivered profitable sales growth.
  • Ability to show customers and other client stakeholders the company's value proposition.
  • Good team builder and communicator, with an open and honest management style.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
