Essential Role Requirements

  • Responsible for accurately and efficiently handling customs declarations for import, export, and transit activities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with customs laws and regulations, including staying updated on any changes and translating them into operational practices.
  • Communicate with customs authorities, shipping lines, airlines, and other relevant parties to resolve any customs queries, issues, and inspections.
  • Provide advice to internal stakeholders and clients on customs regulations, trade restrictions, and potential customs duties.
  • Process customs documentation and ensure accurate capture of all relevant data.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement of our customs processes and implementation of efficiency enhancements

Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Customs Declarant within a freight forwarding or logistics company
  • Extensive knowledge of customs laws, procedures, and trade restrictions
  • Experience with customs declaration systems and software, preferably PLDA, NCTS, and Sagitta
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactive and resultsoriented attitude with a strong team spirit
  • Indepth knowledge of AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) concepts, processes, and requirements
  • Familiarity with AEO audits and assessments
  • Strong understanding of the benefits and obligations associated with AEO status.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Walking within the warehouse and inspecting freight
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must possess strong working knowledge of all rules, regulations, governance and documentation preparations, as it pertains to both Imports and Exports.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills are required, due to the high volume and demands of the position.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft word and excel.
  • Knowledge of TMF, Cargo wise or comparable systems is an advantage.

Experience:
Required

  • 3 year(s): Indepth knowledge of AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) concepts, processes, and requirements
  • 3 year(s): Experience with customs declaration systems and software, preferably PLDA, NCTS, and Sagitta
  • 3 year(s): Demonstrable organisational skills are required, due to the high volume and demands of the position.
  • 3 year(s): Must possess strong working knowledge of all rules, regulations, governance and documentation preparations, as it pertains to both Imports and Exports.
