Scope of the function
The EU Public Affairs Manager is a member of the Public and Regulatory Affairs team, and is expected to:

  • Act as a frontrunner advocacy manager towards EU policy stakeholders (i.e., policymakers, NGOs, trade associations).
  • Participate actively in reinforcing Knauf Insulation as a major policy player in strategic policy areas encompassing circular economy and energy efficiency.
  • Identify and manage policy developments to help to grow our markets.

Missions and responsibilities

  • Monitoring, attending and reporting on European Parliament Committee meetings (ITRE, ENVI, IMCO, etc.) pertaining to the energy and circular economy related files
  • Reporting on Council of the European Union meetings pursuing to energy and environment
  • Performing stakeholder mapping and assessing the position of stakeholders on policy files pursuing to energy efficiency and circular economy
  • Providing and strategically discussing recommendations and public affairs positions with the Public and Regulatory Affairs Director
  • Advocating in favour of the company's position towards EU policymakers (e.g., MEPs, Perm Reps, Commission officials)
  • Attending and reporting on industryled working group meetings in trade associations and multistakeholder organisations
  • Supporting the preparation of contributions to EU associations and the work in the associations
  • Organising public affairs internal meetings
  • Performing a news and media monitoring on relevant policy related files
  • Drafting and supporting the preparation of corporate communication materials

Your profile

  • Experience required_
  • Master's degree in European Affairs, Political Science, Law, Economics or Business (though not exclusively) or equivalent by experience
  • Public affairs experience ideally ranging from 4 to 6 years (traineeship included) or at least is an expert in managing complex policy files with interlinkages between industrial operations and placement of products on markets
  • Good expertise in one of the following areas: Circular Economy and/or Energy Efficiency
  • Experience working with trade associations and multi stakeholder groups including NGOs
  • Fluent spoken and written English any other EU language, German, Italian or Spanish would be an asset
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office 365 required)
  • Internationally mobile: up to 20%.

  • Good communication and drafting skills (familiar with social media campaigns, draft concise and effective policy messages) and ability to be convincing and persuasive
  • Excellent presentation and ability to create and maintain a positive relationship
  • Highly organised, with an aptitude in planning effectively to meet deadlines with keen attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to analyse, and draft positions in coordination with external experts, coordinating a range of views and collating these into succinct, sharp and relevant points of view
  • Assertive and selfconfident when presenting and supporting conclusions
  • Agile with multitasks and work prioritization (multiple projects), able to stand business pressure
  • Creative thinker, searching for solutions and simplifying complex situations
