Work environment:

The "Systems (PWR, BWR, SMR)" group, which is part of the Competence Centre "Nuclear Safety and Engineering", is in charge of the following consultancy and engineering services activities relating to fluid systems of the nuclear Island of nuclear reactors:

  • Conceptual and functional design of fluid systems
  • Functional and technical specifications
  • Feasibility and modification studies
  • Functional and safety analyses
  • Performance analysis
  • Thermalhydraulic calculations
  • Operations & Maintenance support
Input to commercial bidding for engineering services related to the competence domain.

Mission:

  • The group "Systems (PWR, BWR, SMR)" consists of 3 teams of about 10 engineers each.
As manager of one of these teams you will:

  • Manage the activities and workload of this team of experts by coordinating its project tasks and providing technical expertise for the preparation of bids and studies related to this expertise area, which encompasses:
  • Fluid Systems of the Nuclear Island (NI) and heat sink: reactor coolant system, safety systems, auxiliary systems including normal/accidental operating conditions and regulations;
  • Equipment constituting NI and heat sink (pumps, heat exchangers, valves, ) and the related physical and chemical phenomena:
  • On-site performance and commissioning testing.
  • You'll help to maintain the quality standards for the deliverables produced by the team consisting of technical documents, test procedures, reports, functional specifications of equipment and other documents.
  • You'll develop the competence and expertise of your team and contribute to the development of methodologies and tools in collaboration with the Systems group manager. You'll report to the Systems Group manager.
  • You'll be in contact with clients to listen and understand their needs and to prepare scopes of work, budgets and planning schedules for tenders involving the competences of the Systems group.

Profile:

  • You have a master degree in engineering and at least 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry.
  • You are very well acquainted with the field of fluid system design in nuclear power plants and, if possible, in Belgium or in France.
  • You have a strong analytical mind and a problem solving attitude
  • You have strong organizational and leadership skills and are a team player, at ease with contacts.
  • You have an open mind and a capacity to convince others
  • You ensure the motivation and dynamics of your team. You are rigorous and exacting for yourself as for your team members.
  • You are willing to provide guidance to your less experienced team members and transfer your expertise and knowhow.
  • You have good spoken and reading skills in Dutch, French and English, as well as reasonably good writing skills in these languages.
  • You are familiar with MS-Office software.
  • You are committed to meeting the deadlines and you care for quality and safety
  • You're willing to travel
