Job Description:

Howest is an innovative and entrepreneurial college with students, staff and campuses in Kortrijk, Bruges, and Oudenaarde. Our high-quality and unique programs form autonomous teams, at the center of which is the educational manager responsible for policy execution, quality, and content of a cluster of programs. The educational manager focuses on cross-horizontal collaborations in education and research aimed at efficient resource management and effective educational organization. Organizing programs in the cluster, the educational manager ensures optimal staff deployment and feasible work organization. Depending on the identity and size of different programs, the educational manager may delegate tasks to program teams. Thus, the educational manager can appoint program coordinators for one or more programs/tracks/specializations in the cluster, who act as student points of contact, oversee unique educational concepts, and realize educational development and organization. Program coordinators advise the educational manager of the cluster on synergies between programs and ways to strengthen/support each other.

The educational manager reports progress in performance areas and policy actions to the Director of Education in Kortrijk:

Educational Policy Performance Areas:

Translate strategic goals into policy plans with concrete (annual) objectives and projects in collaboration with the Director of Education.Inform the Director of Education and management about the status of their projects derived from strategic goals.

Educational Development Performance Areas at Cluster Level:

Offer quality and engaging learning content in close collaboration with internal professionals in education, research, services, internationalization, and entrepreneurship.Define educational learning outcomes within programs.Engage in discussions and negotiations with internal and external partners to explore collaboration opportunities based on trends and needs (graduate and bachelor thesis lines, internships, etc.).Maximize complementarity of skills for quality student and staff input, throughput, and output in programs.Evaluate and monitor educational performance, established learning paths, and robust learning environments in programs within the cluster.

Educational Organization Performance Areas at Cluster Level:

Enhance student opportunities by facilitating student guidance, trajectory planning, and internationalization within program teams.Ensure adequate administrative and logistical support for educational activities in programs within the cluster.Optimize staff deployment and task distribution across programs in the cluster.

Resource Management Performance Area:

Maximize efficiency gains and economies of scale within the cluster.Monitor various cost centers related to education and research, proactively supporting the Director of Education in monitoring resource management.

The educational manager shares and integrates in their own actions and leadership of staff. Responsible for a positive work atmosphere, engaging and motivating staff, and continually promoting professional development (including their own) to collaboratively address relevant current developments through a lifelong learning approach.

Profile:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Hold a master's degree.Possess relevant knowledge of higher education and its latest developments.Have relevant knowledge of the subject area and field of work of the programs in the cluster.Demonstrate relevant experience in management.Completed a management training (motivational leadership) or willingness to do so.Meet the requirements of Article V of the Higher Education Codex.

Experience:

Relevant (field) experience related to various educational programs at Howest.Prior experience in a managerial role.

Appointment Details:

The appointed educational manager, in the position of lecturer, will be appointed as head lecturer for the duration of the mandate with additional compensation of € ,35 per month at the current index.

The ongoing mandate period lasts until ... The mandate can be renewed after a standard 4-year period following a formal evaluation by the Board Committee.

Given the integration of the educational manager into the programs, they will also have a teaching assignment. This considers the personal expertise and talents of the educational manager to create a strong content combination.

The Human and Well-being cluster includes the following programs:

Bachelor of Social Readaptation SciencesBachelor of Occupational Therapy.

Given the teaching assignment, having expertise in social pedagogy, pedagogy, and/or research is useful. Experience in youth assistance or youth development is a plus.

There is also a close collaboration with the Bachelor's program in Social Work offered in Kortrijk.
